Saitou-san introducing himself to the main guy. Hijikata is happy to see him. Saitou-san said he wants to join even though the pay is not good. Everyone else is happy to see him, too, ever since he left the team.

People don't look good on them for fighting against the soldiers working under the government, who just steal people's money for their own use. The main guy has justice, but afraid of fighting against them.

The guy who was sick in sequels were having practice match with Saitou-san, and he lost.

The "leader" is too lazy to care for the team for a reason, a fire that caused by himself by miss but Kondou got all fault. They think that Kondou is in same level as him and doesn't want him to look lower than him.

The one he's seeing is related to that red water that relates to the sequel and the girl's father's there, too!

Hijikata said the main guy isn't trying his best to live by practicing swordmanship and etc.

Saitou-san and one of the guys came back with blood on them...

Yay, Saito finally meets Ryunosuke! I'm curious as to why he wouldn't draw his sword when that guy was going to kill him. Was he just frozen with fear? @_@

Can Serizawa be any more of a jerk? No wonder why everyone despises him!

At the end, I thought that Souji was the one that made that little boy cry. XD

NO! That cliffhanger.

I like this series more than the previous ones. I'm curious as to why Ryunosuke is scared to draw his sword. I actually like his character more than Chizuru (she got annoying fast). I also like seeing the Shinsengumi before they were Shinsengumi. I look forward to watching the upcoming episodes. I hope they keep the story strong.

What happened to Saitou and Shinpachi?!!

5/5 ^_^

Loved this episode. ;) The first ep is good, but I gotta say this one is a lot better.

I wonder why Ryunosuke is so afraid of the sword...I have a feeling something happened in the past...and we all know from the first episode that he doesn't think too highly of the samurai. >.>

Niimi looked so freaky holding the Ochimizu...o.o

Lol, I noticed how Hijikata looks a bit younger in this season. (Not that he shouldn't). Well, the others do too probably but I study Hijikata the most since he's my favorite. :P His face doesn't look as long in this season so it makes him look younger. :P

I can't wait til we can see little Okita and young Hijikata. :3 But I think we'll have to wait awhile.

Ugh! I hate cliffhanger endings. -.- Now we have to wait until next week before we could find out what happened with Shinpachi and Saito. :(

Another great ep. I agree this one was even better than the first.

Definitely prefer Ryuunosuke as the protagonist to Chizuru. I wonder if it's that trauma from the first ep that caused him to be scared of samurai? Or maybe it's something deeper than that.

Hijikata did have a point - Ryuu is risking his life by going out alone, and not having a way to defend himself

Glad that Saito's back, and that's probably the happiest I've ever seen Hijikata. Also good to see an Okita that's healthy, and not dying -_-

The other samurai are really opening up to Ryu, unlike in the first ep. They're all like a family almost xD

Can't wait til next week

First of all, I love the ED song and visuals! Mao's songs are always so beautiful. And the still with the younger Okita, Hijikata and Kondou made me really excited for the upcoming flashbacks. Since Yamazaki is also in the ED hopefully that means he'll be making an appearance sometime soon.

Like everybody has been saying, Serizawa is such a jerk! There's definitely going to be more tension developing between him and the rest of the characters and I can't wait to see how that culminates in the end.

I was also surprised to see the ochimizu introduced so early in the series. And to think that Serizawa was the one to get his hands on it first... based off the OP though, it looks like Sannan is going to get thrown into the mix eventually as well.

It was nice seeing Hijikata so happy when Saitou returned! It's really interesting watching the Shinsengumi before they became such a feared and powerful faction.

Ryuunosuke getting protected so many times this episode kind of made me laugh. XD It makes sense because he's the playable character in the game, but hopefully he'll able to pick up his sword again soon and fight along with the rest of the characters!

Awn! *-*
Hajime, Souji, Sanosuke and Toshizou! They're so sweet! ^^
Hajimeeee! I missed you!

I also laughed a lot

Ryuunosuke: " Even Hijikata-san smiles. "
___________________________________________________

Souji: " Don't you get sick from buying sake for Serizawa-san everyday? "
Ryuunosuke: " Today is tabacco. "
Souji: *laughs*

As always excellent OP and ED
I wonder who were the two girls that appeared.... Are they related to the Shogun?

And the cat's out of the bag...
Ryunosoke can't use a sword? Or is he just afraid of it? =o (It seems like the former since he acted all amazed when they came and rescued him and stuff...?)

I get this sense perhaps for a plot device in later on episodes, that there is a reason why he can't draw his sword, maybe something that happened to him in the past? Just a theory, but I'm definitely interested to find out!

So nice seeing the guys talking with each other all casual again, it feels like that hasn't been seen in ages. Which does make sense considering how they went separate ways partway through the second season. Ryunosuke distantly makes me think of the ever so shy Masanosuke (Five Leaves). Only, you know, several shades less appealing. That and I don't think it is actually because he's skittish, more likely some sort of tragic back-story.

I just can't get the thought that almost all of them (I'm wondering if I ought to use spoiler tag or not...I think that almost everyone saw Hekketsuroku... but well)

out of my head O_o
Anyway, great episode! I loved that Hijikata/Saitou moment, it was so genuine. I'm also curious about Ryunosuke's (damn...his name is so hard to remember for me xD) past. And Serizawa is getting on my nerves.
The only thing you can rely on is that you can't rely on anything.

I've noticed that the anime is making Serizawa a huge jerk.
It is a shame that we won't see Serizawa route because he is a very interesting character and when you see the reason behind Serizawa's actions it gives you a different impression of him (or not... a friend of mine still didn't like Serizawa).

In the game Saitou didn't know about de Honjou-Inn incident, Heisuke told Ryunosuke secretly.
In the manga they followed Serizawa's route in that part and Ryunosuke heard about the incident from Serizawa himself. He even praised Kondou for such a brave actitude (the scene in the anime was very rushed).

I wanted to say that OP song sounds a lot like something one would hear in visual novels. So I went to vndb and found out there's a visual novel.

So, does VN also follow this main guy. I honestly don't like him, so would I be losing my time reading it?

As for the episode, it's decent, a new character getting thrown into a mix. Ending promises something bad happened, so I'm looking forward to next episode. Not a bad show, I just don't get a lot of things.

Okay, this episode was certainly a lot better than the previous one (not only thanks to Saitou's appearance). I can see germs of plot and I'm really glad about it. The only thing that pisses me off is that Serizawa guy. Ryunousuke isn't that bad after all, I like pathetic characters. So I guess it's okay. The last scene managed to interest me, it was really... well, not stunning, but certainly surprising.

you probably won't understand it cuz some info was in the previous two seasons. EVen though this is a prequel, it came out AFTER the original game(the sequel)

I should have guessed right away that this is a shoujo samurai, I knew the character visual designs were way too off for warriors. It's still boring for now, I'm not sure if I'll endure to watch this to the end(or maybe I should have seen S1 and 2 first..).

Well this is definitely better than the later series to me at least. And since Chizaru's dad showed up, the ending is getting more predictable.

Still good that Saito finally showed up.

A little boring imo. But the cliffhanger wasn't too bad

Ryuu is totally pathetic. He can't draw out and use his sword. I guess some sort of past trauma...? Not that I really care. I just want him to stop being such a weakling lol.

Serizawa is such an ass >.>
