| Now Kurosawa has two dedicated underlings. Nakane and Ono. I honestly think this time it wasn't his fault. His fight for Nakane led to rumors being started and like he predicted they wouldn't listen otherwise, so he tried to change his image from ruthless tyrant to strong man with a good heart and Ono overheard and was moved to the core and the rest is history. To be fair he has attacked Nakane and some pro wrestlers with his all, preparing to die in battle. I would say he's quite strong for that reason even if he doesn't realize it himself. Like Nakane said, his ability to be true to himself in those moments of intensity are something even Nakane doesn't have. Further, I was just thinking about how Kurosawa showed he understood Nakane as time went on, and like I mentioned, I think he does have respect for him and how he lives. He became a delinquent because he was too proud. He's damn cool. And he is capable of anything. There is a mutual respect there and because Nakane looks up to Kurosawa, Kurosawa accepts the role of captain/aniki and puts himself out there before Nakane gets into real danger. Maybe this is too far, but even if Kurosawa doesn't understand completely in clear terms why he's fighting, I think it's somewhat selfless in a mutual show of caring for the people under him and of mutual respect, and that's dang cool. It's very pretty. Early in the series he was doing things so people would like him superficially. With Nakane how 'cool' Nakane is was stuck on Kurosawa's mind for a week. Later in a drunken rage he thought about how Nakane was the only person who respects and understands the true him and that one should die for those people. It's a huge difference and to me sounds like he's learning what it's like to have people he should fight for. |
