How the years go by....three to be exact and we are still chugging along, since the day Cav9, Tainted Donut, and myself started watching anime movies together on Sundays and then starting a club. The club now consist of Tainted Donut (the educated anime watcher), Cav9 (master of many anime genres and the host with the most), Chaos Emperor (old school anime encyclopedia), Moose7100 (the heart and soul of anime convergence), Butler Black (anime rookie and the bringer of sex and violence), Bruce leroy (anime action junkie learning to branch out to other genres), and Xacess (the anime club ghost member who haunts the halls of Cav's house and brings good cheer to all).

For those who new to Anime 360, we are a club that consist of the members above and we meet on pretty much every sunday watching anime movies, ovas, and short series through out the year, we play video games, and go on anime themed trips together this year consisted of going to Anime Boston. Anime Boston was a good time had by all, the halls were filled with cosplayers and hard core fans, none of this NY Big Apple convention mixing comics with anime with the anime side being thrown to the wayside. Other than that every year on the club's anniversary we vote on the movies we've watched for the year give them specific honors like a movie awards show...and now on to the show.

MOST FORGETTABLE MOVIE: unlike last year where two movies were completely forgettable, the only movie that came to mind this year (or didn't come to mind) was Ghibli studios - OCEAN WAVES, a movie about a school trip to Hawaii and girl with daddy issues who borrows money from a boy classmate and ????? forgettable happens. Enjoy your award Ghibli studios. (a Tainted Donut pick)

MOST MEMORABLE MOVIE: this movie fought tooth and nail and almost won best movie of the year, so we started a new catagory and gave it to this it's so bad it's good movie - DRACULA: SOVEREIGN OF THE DAMNED, this campy movie was featured at Anime Boston in a worst anime of all time panel. Well one thing for sure when ever someone speaks of Dracula to anyone in this club this movie will certainly come to mind. (a Butler Black pick)

WORST MOVIE OF THE YEAR: ugh, and I mean ugh...for all those guys out there do you wish your balls (and I mean testicles) could transform into weapons, parachutes, picnic blankets, and even large boats, because that was what this movie was all about...balls. Who are the geniuses that had enough "balls" to make this our worst movie of the year, why it's those fine folks at Ghibli studios and their testicled masterpiece - POM POKO. A community of old school magic raccoons with magical shape shifting powers fight against the humans who are destroying their forest. This movie that seemed to go on forever was a real example of balls to wall bulls#$t. Thank you Ghibli as you recieve your second worst movie award from this club. (a Chaosemperor pick)

And drumroll please as we announce the BEST MOVIE OF THE YEAR AWARD.

Fisrt of all, this year was a battle for this catagory as the votes were tied three ways. Tainted and Butler for Dracula, Cav and Bruce leroy for Break Blade, lastly Moose and Chaos for Eve No Jikan. After a half hour deliberation of every team pleading the case for their movie, the Break Blade team broke down giving the votes needed to pick the best movie of the year - Eve No Jikan or Time Of Eve. A futuristic story where androids are commonplace and a little cafe that goes against the laws of society treating androids and humans the same is the focus of the movie. So we thank you the creative force behind Eve No Jikan you deserve this award. (a Moose7100 pick)

So that wraps up 2011 for Anime 360, we laughed, we cried, we got headaches all for the sake watching anime. Any one is welcome to follow the movies we watch by clicking the movies link on our page which is the only thing that is updated regularly. If you leave a post we will get to in a timely manner. Well good bye 2011, hello 2012 and all the anime movie yet to watch.

Dracula should have won. Last year's crop of movies weren't nearly as laugh out loud funny and entertaining. Perhaps Frankenstein can make a claim for this year. We shall see :P

Sometimes Studio Ghibli manages to get things right (Princess Mononoke/Arrietty/Grave of the Fireflies), but when they fail they fail spectacularly as they've now netted two of our worst of the year picks. It's a good thing we didn't watch Tales From Earthsea in a different year or they might have made it to 3.

...even a saint needs a soldier to do the dirty work.
