Seeing as I love deep anime like Akira and Neon Genesis Evangelion, Magic Tree House looks like it will become an instant classic for me! It looks like the character designs were inspired by Yokohama Shopping Trip, and the scenery looks quite reminiscent of Ghost in the Shell (SAC season one, not the movies or the second season).

With Urobuchi Gen, Hideaki Anno, and Kaijura Yuki on staff this looks like it will be one of the greatest anime of our generation.

Anyone else familiar with the source material? (I've read over thirty of the light novels this is adapted from so I am quite knowledgeable)

The MAL page makes it look like a kids show - I haven't read the source material though. Would you consider the books to be aimed at younger audiences but suitable for all ages? Or are they aimed at older audiences featuring younger main characters?

I added it to my Plan To Watch list even if it's not going to be the greatest thing since sliced bread, it looks enjoyable enough.

Magic Tree House is a series of chapter books for kids around 6-8 years of age.

This was my favourite book when I was around 8 years old. =P I didn't like reading when I was small, but this was the first book that I got interested in at that point of time. Maybe I should try watching, and see if I am able to feel a sense of nostalgia(though the chances are I will feel bored watching it). ^^|l

These books and Harry Potter were my favorite books when I was a kid (about the 4th-6th grade) and I always imagined these as anime -- right as I was getting into anime at this time. I was not disappointed by the movies I remembered some aspects of the books that they put into the film. I'm assuming the subplot about the school play was made for the film. Impressive they took several stories and put them into one movie and made it feel connected. I'd love to see this made as a series.

It isn’t based on a light novel. It’s based on American middle reader Chapter books

Its crazy how there is an anime of this. I read these books as a kid, and back then I thought they were straight heat. Its weird how there are people who don't know about this and grew up in america. Idk about an anime adaptation tho.

I remember reading the books in elementary school and I never thought I’d be sitting here today watching an anime adaptation of them of all things. It was definitely an interesting experience watching an anime based off of American books I read as a kid. This hit me right in the childhood.
