Damn I totally wanted the Doctor dude to play matchmaker between the two.
Like after Trieze's supposed confession.

It was pretty nice and enjoyable Anime, but it was too rushed .

This should have been at least 26 eps for Allison & Wil and another 26 for Lillia & Treize and Allison & Travas [Wil] revealing rest of secrets .
Instead it was compressed into one show and there just wasn't enough of space for everything that should have been included. It kinda felt like parts of the show were cut off.

Even though it was pretty well done and i was able to enjoy it and I watched this in marathon.
8/10 for both season and last ep.
( Currently interested in OP MC genre. Recommendations are welcomed, preferable those yet not on my list )

Yeah, by his impatient swishing of the tea, I had expected that to be his goal, to matchmake them so that he wouldn't marry the princess. Too bad.

I was hoping for more of an explanation/motive as to why Treize was the target...
Treize was targeted cuz he would be marrying the royalty(i forgot what her name was) and then since the ministry of justice?(i think) has a son who has a high possibility of marrying that royalty, the ministry wanted to get rid of treize so that his son can marry that royalty.

I wasn't completely satisfied by the ending, but I don't think I'm quite as disappointed by it as many other people here are. The main problem I have with the ending is that it doesn't really seem to feel like a true conclusion. While you can easily infer how Treize/Lillia were going to end up, a proper conclusion would have been nice. As others mentioned, I was really expected the "big reveal" with how Wil was Lillia's dad.

As for the actual last arc itself...tbqh, I really have no complaints about the convoluted scheme by the prisoner regarding Treize. It's pretty clear that the prisoner had this "hehehe everything is going according to plan" vibe the entire way through. Which all the unnecessary plans he put forth, it seems pretty clear that he was trying to purposely have everyone play along with his game.

And as for the series as a whole. 8/10 for me. The first half was great, and had this really "simple" charm to it. And I'm probably in the minority here, but I didn't hate the second half at all. I thought the first half was a little better and had a better ending, but I still enjoyed Lillia's story nonetheless.

lol this is such a BS show xD

meh, meh..not sure why they even animated it O.o why is everyone so stupid and the action sequences so dumb?
And what about Wil & Allison??? :<

still was weirdly enjoyable. Was thinking of giving a 7 but the ending was just too bland.

I'm so glad that's over. Some cute parts, but overall, really failed to meet its potential.
Your mean should be an even bell curve only if you watch every show that comes out. Having a high-slung mean doesn't mean you're rating improperly. It can also mean you're selecting shows well to watch mostly things you enjoy.

First half (Allison/Wil) had better story. Character relationship was very casual but hinted a lot, but they didn't make it bogged down with drama. The short arcs kept the pacing moving along quite well.

Second half (Lillia/Treize) had better character dynamics, at least initially. Lillia obviously had more personality, and we get to see Treize's development throughout his thirteen episodes. The first charity plane arc was extraordinarily promising, and the kidnapping arc was good overall.

As for the endings of both halves, they were bad in their own ways. Wil's departure was a realistically sobering experience, but it did set up the stage for the second half, and it seems life isn't so bad for Allison and Wil.

The finale starring Treize and Lillia was more than disappointing. Everyone here has already stated what went wrong, and I'd like to add that I thought Treize almost become more pathetic as his story went on. His ladder kick was pretty much mandatory, and if not for that the ending would have been downright pathetic. We didn't even get closure for Allison, Travas, and Lillia, nor did we find out what happened to Prisoner #42 or the Sous-Beil princess.

High point of the entire series must have been the middle of Allison/Wil's story, and the charity plane arc for Lillia/Treize.

Good likable characters, subpar story . I like Lillia and Treize's characters better than Wil and Allison but I like the latter pair's story better.

It was nice to see Wil and Allison flying that plane in this episode.

Poor Lillia never got to know the truth about her dad. Yeah everyone around you knows it but you. Maybe if she had that deductive skill as Matilda, then she would have figured out Travas is her dad...cause you know they share the same eye color.

Oh well. I was entertained.

I liked the first half of the series, the second half was...a mess. The steady stream of villains doing things that made absolutely no sense, the corny "forgive the bad guy" moments, and of course minor details like having Treize plummet to his death only to miraculously survive by some unknown method (which I guess the scriptwriter couldn't find an explanation for either).

And thus began a cliche high school slice of life about a transfer student and a violent tsundere. Treize should have confessed and kissed her right there in front of the class.

Overall I'm not really sure what to make of this series. Too many mixed feelings to say whether I definitively enjoyed it or not. It had its moments where it really delivered and then other moments where it was painstakingly boring, cheesy, and underwhelming. I liked the sense of adventure that came with this series, but it felt like it lacked any real objective or direction. The main characters were all very enjoyable and had distinct personalities, but the lackluster story took away from the full potential there. Not to mention the antagonists and "baddies" were generally just one dimensional or they relied on a sob story too much to try to garner empathy. Also if this series was really trying to
This anime encourages young generations to believe in a world without hatred or war regardless of nationalities and beliefs.
as the synopsis says, then I feel like it missed its mark.

There were moments in this that make me want to give it a 5/10, but then others that I would gladly drop a 7 or 8 down for. Overall I'm thinking a 6/10, now I see where all of the low scored reviews came from.

Like some I felt the 1st half was better then the 2nd. In the 1st half it was clear that Allison was in love with Wil. They even add a sort of rival for Wil short lived as it was. If you compare Allison and Treize in terms of "who is more funny to watch trying to confess" the obvious choice, for me anyways, is Allison. As far as Lillia and Wil go in the dense department.. Wil just seemed more fun to watch because even though he is dense it's like he is analyzing everything to figure out the puzzle. Lillia on the other had seems to take dense and naivete to a legendary degree. It's one thing to be the damsel in distress but compared to Allison.. it's like she is chicken with it's head cut off. I understand the reasoning behind it though. The fact that most everything about her live is essentially a lie.
One thing I can't stand is the fact that the anime never showed Lillia finding out Travas is actually her father. I wonder if the novels describe that.

Anyways I know it's mean to Lillia and Treize but I think that anime would have been a heavy hitter had the full 26 episodes were dedicated to Allison and Wil.
Also RIP to Treize's sister. She could have been such a nice character.. she seemed kinda bro con to me...

Omg the last part had me genuinely laughing out loud. This was straight out awful ,absolutely awful.

Talk about a literally train wreck of a series, initially it was fairly decent ,although the way they "jumped" straight into the action from the very first episodes and how the "mystery" was solved in the 4th episode were clear signs that this series would have some pacing issues, but what came afterwards was straight up garbage.Literally after each "arc" it just got worse and worse.Allison was the only half decent characters in the entire series, the rest were just terrible.
Either the author of Kino No Tabi is actually this inept or whoever wrote the script for the series had no idea what he was doing ,either way this is was just a joke of a story.

Holy crap, that was one hell of a terrible ending. I was liking this show up until the final few minutes.
Right before the ending, I was thinking to myself "what a nice show, sure it has its flaws but the characters are nice for the most part and overall I'm glad I watched it."

I cannot remember watching an ending as bad as this. He just decides to give up and die at the end? Then he's back alive and transferring into school with ZERO explanation. Then to top it all off (not that I expected any resolution on their tortured "romance") he "works up the courage" to ask her to dance... at a dance.

Probably the first anime I screamed at.

Echoing the plan to kill a plane full of orphans in order to create a media buzz to somehow raise awareness of the need for economic aid, I think this plan for kidnapping Treize is quite convoluted with a lot of unnecessary steps. Hell, they even made it difficult for Treize to even meet with them. What would the bad guys have done if Treize was unable to get onto the train? It feels like they could have cut the fluff in the middle and went straight to kidnapping Treize. That is, if the plan was to kidnap him. Really, what was plan again?

Speaking of the plan, how the hell did Treize get out of falling into a chasm on top of an out of control train alive? Even before that, how the hell did those rails break? You can't even see the bottom of that chasm. It should have been held up by some bridge structure, but there's no evidence of one ever being there. It just looks like it was originally held up by thin air. And why was it even possible to divert the tracks to the broken rails in the first place? Wouldn't that feature have been disabled while the rails were being fixed?

Also, wait a sec, how did Treize's sister hear about Treize being in trouble again? The technology in this anime has been a bit weird ever since the time skip. Prior, it seems very much somewhere between WWI and a bit before WWII, but with that hotel high rise at beginning of the second half, wireless comlinks, television and pocket-sized handheld cameras. I understand this is fiction, so I shouldn't overthink such things, but, well, because this anime has been trying to be as grounded in technology as it could, that detail kind of stuck out to me.

I'm being critical here, but that's because I really like this anime. For the past month, watching Wil and Allison, followed by Treize and Lillia, undergoing multiple trials with multiple parallels between the two pairs were a joy to be had. It's also one of the few instances I've seen where the main characters are also parents. Not only that, but the main characters of the anime grew up, had a child, and are now adults taking care of that child who is also living their own stories. I'm not sure what I expected going into this show, but I certainly got a lot more out of it then I could have ever wished for. However, there were also a lot of ways I could have been improved, if just by taking more time with itself. As is though, I certainly did enjoy this anime, so I'll leave it at that.

I don't get how Treize survived a train falling off a cliff. If he rode it he'd be dead, if he jumped he'd roll off the cliff...
Aside from that rushed ending, it was a great series though.

The criminal was obvious interested in entertainment, because he baited Treize with Lilia even though he could have just grabbed Treize, though that's understandable having been in a jail cell for how many years.

This anime goes out of its way to make sure everybody survives their planes being shot up in dogfights but is willing to call a cold-blooded murderer, a character who throws an innocent man from a speeding train in the name of the most convoluted and ridiculous intelligence operation imaginable, a hero. I feel like the main message of this anime is that anything is permitted if done in the name of 'peace.' These 'peace seeking' operations all deal with situations that are incredibly abstract, but are presented as being easily solved through the sacrifice of innocents in a very round-about way. What makes all of this even more terrifying is that all of the main characters are either 'Central Intelligence' types or literal royalty. That this is ostensibly a children's show in tone makes it even more unsettling.

Lillia and Trieze had pretty good chemistry and were decent characters overall. I think that fact, and the storyline involving Claire, made the second half somewhat more enjoyable than the first. But it's still a huge mess, and full of really dodgy stuff. In a universe where a fucking drawing can end a war, do we really need to sacrifice a trainload of people to get rid of a weapons dealer? I mean of course that didn't happen because a main character was on the train but....

The main theme here was sacrifice for the greater good and revenge, and perhaps the show wouldn't feel so shady if it had better writing or handled its scenarios more tastefully. There were two instances of revenge, the first being Claire and the second being Ax(?)/Ann. In one instance, the latter, the cycle of violence is put to an end by Wil putting Ann in close proximity to him. In Claire's case the revenge ends with her failure. All potentially interesting stories, especially how Wil handles Ann, it just doesn't work out as it should because everything surrounding it is incredibly wonky stuff. I mean if Wil and co. had come up with the plan to kill all of those orphans, I don't see how that's much different from what Allison's grandfather plan was, and what he eventually did. But it was certainly humorous, if not disturbing, to see Wil follow in his father-in-law's footsteps to become a fucking shell of a man, a literal cog in the wheel with no life of his own. The fact that his alias is his wife's boyfriend is absolutely senseless. Is he NTRing himself?

Also, what's with all of the crazy shenanigans on run-away trains anyway... I thought this was a plane anime?

Overall, nice setting, interesting concept and characters, but even with its relatively decent structure and pacing (I though it handled itself pretty well for a 26 episode 'generational' story), the quality of the writing really screwed this one up. Tweak some specifics and this could have been a much better experience. Complaining about the ending is silly though. Their relationship was cute, and the dance was cute, this anime has WAY more problems than that. But even with all of this ranting and complaining I still weirdly enjoyed it. Lillia > Allison.

I liked the atmosphere from the whole series, liliane and allison are both cute. But seriously this anime is 0 logic ... bad guy can move, taking hostage while passing everyone like it was nothing.. im talking abt the guy on the train and the one from allison and fion.... and the chances for the bullet to hit the gun instead of treize( the one in the snowy place..) and yeah all the bad guys r going in a very roundabout way . Idk is this how it happened in the novel or what ..

I sure liked this series, found it interesting how they divided the two parts and how smooth that time skip worked. I feared at first as I wanted to see them grow up more together but the actual case of both their children was in its own way very lovely to watch especially all the way up to the ending!

Really a great watch I must say.

Thought the very very end of the show was a little over the top and silly, there is basically no reason for Trieze to let go of the ladder, that was all done to have one final bit of drama and suspense and it was so not needed. Especially as they don't even bother to reveal how he survived and apparently Lillia only discovers he is alive when he joins her school, which is pretty cruel to Lillia though her reaction was alittle understated considering . Also we never did get to see Lillia and Trieze have their talk which is kinda sucky really.

Overall I enjoyed the show quite alot, its setting was nice though slowly became more and more just modern day earth in terms of tech which was abit strange given the eraly vibes. I think the idea of having story arcs throughout was nice, felt like watching a 90min film each day. I wasn't too sure about the timeskip at first, I thought Will's decision was strange and Allison's father was a douchebag for suggesting it but thankfully Will and Allison made it work. I enjoyed getting to see the intial cast all grown up. I guess the only frustrating thing is Lllia doesn't learn the truth about her father though honestly I don't know how you go revealing a 'lie' like that, it's brushed over somewhat but that is an incredibly heavy subject especially given everyone else knows which begs the question why it had to be secret to Lillia.

I wish there was more of the Anime, I assume the novels go beyond this. Oh well I'm glad I finally watched the show, I've owned it for years on DVD and I'm pleased the show didn't disappoint.

Also the opening theme was awesome!!

One of the worst shows I've ever had the displeasure of watching.

Allison side was already bad (villains frequently have upper hand but just die due to sheer stupidity or shit luck), but tolerable. Lillia side is just worse in almost every way. A dog fight with no injuries despite downing 3 enemy planes and the good guy's plane hitting reef on landing and sinking. Treize getting shot at hundred of times, in plain sight as he charges at the gunners in the snow, but the bad guys couldn't hit him once. And that last kidnapping arc? Way too convoluted for such a simple objective: just kidnap Treize. Generally, every arc (including Allison side) is a sad attempt at serious action but wouldn't cross into meaningful suspense because the bad guys couldn't injure anyone even if they tried their hardest (oh right, except the old guy from first arc but he had death flag all over him anyway).

The characters are aggravating too. Treize is like Allison but without the spunkiness that made her somewhat interesting; instead, he's just this character that likes Lillia but couldn't tell her the truth until it was forced out of him by the kidnapper. Speaking of which, the moment of truth could've been a cathartic moment that this show sorely lacks but is instead turned into a boring moment because of the circumstance in which it was delivered. And Lillia, ugh. How dense can one get? So many red flags signaling that Treize isn't an ordinary "palace guard" but she's too dumb to pick up the hints. Oh and that one time she saw a bad guy taking aim at Treize (with back facing Lillia) and yelled to Treize instead of tackling the bad guy or throwing an object at him to make him miss? Yeah.

Allison & Lillia is chock-full of absurd writing. The series reminds me of The Hardy Boys books, but that's really unfair to The Hardy Boys.
