KaitoDash said: Really I though it was more like the 2100s or something. Gangler is right, Yumekichi. It is clearly stated somewhere around Vol 4-5 of the LN that the series takes place in Japan, 2009. Alternate Japan/World is the right way to describe it. Gangler said: Oh really? Well if there are enough to see her fight some mroe and character development I am fine. BTW this episode is how far I went in the manga so next up, I hope to get a spoiler of what is to come in the future.KaitoDash said: Sweet! Glad I could get that confirmed. Thanks for the info^^BTW, I checked the episode list. Looks like we'll have only 3 episodes for Shirayuki. Well, not surprised. Shirayuki's arc doesn't have too much detail. Amazing really that it is that useful. It's official, School uniforms can be used as a parachute, Hoppy said: I still think the manga was more classy in fact way more but at least the adaptation was not disappointing.Kinji making out with Aria for hysteria mode is pure class. KaitoDash said: Oh please put the quote of that in here for people to have a triple comparing since I have both versions already it would contribute greatly my friend.Yumekichi11 said: Agreed. They kissed better in Manga than Anime, and better in LN than Manga. Kinji narrated its taste thoroughly.Sadly the answer is the manga version was way better. It felt like it was a little too rushed that part but Shirayuki's part was good except again I think it was rushed and of course fuck the damn stupid censors of Aria but guess what you can still some of Aria's chest charms in the spoiler KaitoDash said: F-15? Man, that's old for the time frame of this series. I though they would have the F-18s at least. Damn USA restricting Japanese power! Yumekichi11 said: It's F-15 Eagle from the Military of Defense.and is that a F-18 in the spoiler? Uhm F-15's are still the Standard Air to Air fighter, least the F-15C is. The F-18 is more of a multi-role aircraft. It's just glorified because of films like Independance Day using them as the USAF Poster child. |

Yeah, if that were the case the situation would be dire. We'd be talking about a century old machine. At that point it's not just outdated or not top of the line, it's a freaking antique. Well, I can certainly see where you were coming from with the talk of upgrades and military defense then, though under that context I'd still think it would be pretty noteworthy that they even had F-15s in such great condition ^^ I thought you were talking about like twenty or thirty years into the future :O |

I don't even feel like pointing out all the unrealistic and down right weird stuff... There's just something about Guns and the supernatural that dictates that their combination can only result in ridiculousness. It's the weirdest thing. Like, for example, imagine that everything that happened so far was in a generic fantasy setting. Kinji uses swords. His horse is cursed that it might never stop until it grew weary, died, and explodes. Aria, a blademaster and knight of great repute, jumps out from hidden depths and slashes the magic runes from the horse while simultaneously launching them both away from the incoming explosion. A set of golems arrive and start firing magic missiles at them. Kinji's power activates. He draws his sword and beats the magic missiles right back into the golem's launching mechanism. Later after begrudgingly becoming Aria's temporary servant, the same thing happens with a carriage carrying a noble family. Kinji gets up top and successfully damages the rune which serves as the unseen assailant's magic eye, but Aria gets grazed by a magic projectile (once again, golems are following) Finally, as Aria flees the country upon dragon's back, Kinji jumps aboard last minute after receiving new information from his underground informant and briefly activating his powers once more. He gets there only to find that the dragonmaster is his informant in disguise, and a powerful sorceress to boot! A fierce battle ensues. Aria's magic armor protects her from much, but at the last minute Riko uses previously unknown shapeshifting powers to get an unexpected hit in. Kinji flees and forces some healing tonic into Aria. She awakes and he activates his power, utilizing it to come up with a cunning plan. They corner Riko, but she forces the dragon to go out of control. They split up, aria trying to calm down the dragon while Kinji chases Riko. Last minute she steps on a prearranged rune and it activates, teleporting her to safety while simultaneously releasing a burst of explosive energy that grievously wounds the dragon and sets it to crash. Kinji contacts an ally experienced with dragons using a mystical stone for conveying voices over great distances. His friend tells him the secret to domineering a dragon, an advanced technique that takes years to master. Kinji looks deep into the dragons eyes and with a mind and will still greatly enhanced by his power he bends the dragon to his will, successfully guiding it to take them safely to ground. It's all the same shit, but with swords and magic instead of guns and bombs. Yet one is infinitely more acceptable than the other. |

Riko= Just ridiculous, magic hair, clothes turning into a parachute, and a descendant of Lupin? Aria= Lives though a shot to the chest, and a descendant of Sherlock Holmes....Really? Who's next? Robin Hood? Alexander the great? Kinji= A pussy who can turn into a badass... and just doesn't do it enough to make him stay interesting... This anime just wants to make up what ever it wants, even if it doesn't make any sense... 2 for this episode. |

Well, Aria said so herself that she does not inherit her great-grandfather's deduction skill and she was called defect by the family because of that. But she is in Assault, and her martial arts skill is great for a little girl. But if people says they ruined Holmes, I have to disagree. XD I didn't know about the Forensic science thing. That's certainly impressive. But I was mostly restricting the characters to their own worlds.... Seventeen languages eh? That surprises me. The rest of that I wouldn't classify as intelligence so much as skill. Let's be real, we haven't seen her display anything resembling intelligence so far. She's great with her hands. She can do lots of stuff, and like any fierce warrior is very well trained and skilled in her chosen means of combat. Still, she's not the full package like Sherlock Holmes, which is pretty much the premise of her character. Sherlock stepped in at a time when people were convicted based on testimony alone and started utilizing clues and induction to show everyone the flaws with their legal system. Basically completely outclassed the scotland yard and really Britain as a whole while also enlightening the country and working up a name for himself as the legendary and peerless detective. In addition to being just plain intelligent in a manner that wasn't otherwise present in his world, he was handy with a pistol, an expert swordsman, and a peerless boxer. Even without taking into account his significance within the real world (or the fact that the legal system I mentioned would probably still be in use without him), he's still just about as badass as anyone could possibly be. Not to mention his passing and functional knowledge of multiple sciences, his mastery of chemistry in particular, and an aptitude towards the arts of disguise and discretion. He was not a man to be trifled with. Aria is nice and all. Certainly a genius level combatant. Evidently she's got some highly impressive language skills as well. Has a functioning knowledge of vehicular transport. At the end of the day though, if you compare her to her world, she's a top class butei with a series of flaws that must be accommodated for. Her skills are very clearly within that top class, as made clear by the fact that other top class fighters are able to fight on equal terms with her. She's top class, but not peerless, which is the distinction I make. I don't seek to bash aria. She's fantastic. Not like she's running around "Showing the world how it's done" though. Aria's badass, but let's not pretend like Holmes is the character who's being improved by association. Edit: KaitoDash said: [ But if people says they ruined Holmes, I have to disagree. Because Holmes has nothing to do with these things here except being the ultimate figure among Butei. Oh for sure. No one's been ruined by this. That's just ridiculous. They don't effect eachother in any significant way, and I tend to view it more as a compliment to the author that people are still interested enough in his story that it maintains relevance and continues to get rehashed and retold to this day. Petty complaint originally, I wouldn't seek to align myself with it. Edit2.0: Just saw that I guess the post was altered at some point during my writing the reply and I didn't notice. The age is certainly a good and valid point to bring to the table Chiibi. As much as she hasn't risen past her peer circle, and thus still isn't as far above it all comparable to her peers as Sherlock, there's a solid case to be made that she merely has not reached that level of accomplishment or come into her own element yet. At sixteen there's only room for so much of a gap between you and your peers. When Holmes was in his early twenties he was still just developing the methods and thought processes that would later set him apart in such a manner. Hardly much more than a particularly intelligent undergraduate with some interesting ideas. Point and match. You certainly got me there. In this sense, aria I suppose could be considered comparable to a much younger sherlock holmes. An impulsive holmes lacking in wisdom and sense, who hasn't yet perfected her methods and become the legend that is her potential. Nice. Really cool way of looking at her character actually. |

Well, are we still talking about intelligence in comparison to Holmes or just intelligence in general? Really the only reason she's not considered to be a genius intellect by her peers is because she goes to a school for elite detectives instead of just the normal schooling system. I wouldn't try and argue general lack of intelligence, we were originally just discussing how she sizes up against her ancestor. |

No worries. I'm fine with the topic moving, such is a natural part of conversation. I was just worried I had perhaps misphrased myself. All about the context. Aria's smarter than I'll ever be, but I'm not a top tier law enforcer expected to take up the mantle of one of the greatest minds in the history of my world=P Unfortunately once you get to that point there are some pretty harsh expectations placed on you. I get the impression it's gonna be a source of trouble for aria:( I don't think the languages thing has come up yet in the show (haven't been able to spot mention of it), but if that's the case it's even worse since she doesn't necessarily even have to be a butei. With a mind like that I'm sure she could just march off into the academic community and make a living off her skills as a linguist. She'd probably be one of the most respected minds in her field, and could likely actually progress the study of language measurably within her life time by making connections and finding patterns that others just don't have enough of the picture to put together. If she's sticking around in Butei school despite this just because of the pressure to take up the family business and measure of to "The Greatness of your lineage", then that's actually really sad ;_; |

Well, lying behind those instincts are some reasons she doesn't know how to explain to people, but Kinji IS the partner who can comprehend that. Her instinct is great and reliable in general case; if she stays calm, her instinct always gives perfect decision. But the problem is that her composure is extremely low. Her brain gets messed up easily by some certain environments, especially in front of Hysteria Kinji. And she is innocent (in a good meaning as a character not as Butei) and gets tricked easily. I'm a fan of being over the top, but this episode was just plain bad. From how Aria's life was saved, through the landing to the overly melodramatic helicopter scene. Still, I enjoyed the good moments, especially how Kinji is actually able to handle a tsundere (and a Rie variant at that). Very, very rare, for MCs to be this good regarding the issue. Will keep brain functions at a minimum for the following episodes, to which I am actually looking forward to. 3/5. |

I enjoyed this episode for the most part, it simply had more action than the other episodes imo. I don't get how Aria was saved though. Did she die or something when Kinji checked for her heartbeat? I dunno, either way that medicine seemed way too unrealistic even if it did have its side-effects. :U |

I seriously cannot believe how many people are completely confused by the injection. I am just going to recommend that everyone go out and watch Pulp Fiction. Mission impossible 3, Halloween. You know what? Just watch some movies in general. This isn't exactly a new concept. Shoot the heart full of adrenaline, it starts up again, numbs fighter to the pain, fighter can keep fighting regardless of how much damage fighter has taken. Nothing was "Healed" beyond starting up her heart again, which had presumably stopped because of shock. Still, having a beating heart is a pretty big plus ;) |

Shoot the heart full of adrenaline, it starts up again, numbs fighter to the pain, fighter can keep fighting regardless of how much damage fighter has taken. Nothing was "Healed" beyond starting up her heart again, which had presumably stopped because of shock. Still, having a beating heart is a pretty big plus ;) Plus, the bullet didn't actually go through her heart, right? |

Hmm... Let's see. I'm not a doctor, but I'm pretty sure that's not the heart. Good point there. Didn't think to examine that, but if there actually was a bullet in or through her heart I can't imagine just getting the thing beating again would have done much good. That's important. |

I'm no doctor either but the hole looks a bit too low for that to be the heart. :O |

Hahahahah, I liked how did Kinji kiss Aria to enter Hysteria mode(I suppose). I'm surprised that Kinji didn't connected the whole story linking Aria to Sherlock Holmes, to now o.O . And Shirayuki just made me lol :D By this episode, I'm sure that Hidan no Aria's OST is just great. I do not regret watching it at all ^__^ |

Another good episode, even so I think same parts were a little bit forced..... This anime gives good action moments and they are principal attractive, sometimes Aria seems too similar to Louise but in a bed way.... probably this is a Rie's error.... next episode seems funny!! next to 6th ep |

i honestly cant believe that they censored this...it was such a pointless censor...censoring the bra or pantie shots is the most pointless thing IMO they are no different from bikinis..imagine if they censored every beach episode in an anime. o well..anything to increase dvd sales i guess. but besides that it was a great episode. although still the magical hair ruins it a little. |
