I figured to say something owuld be nice since I just finished this. Seems that the whole thing is based on the world creation ruled by records of it in the form of stories in books having the whole place into a library that has the ENLDLESS TIME frame.

BTW Lillith used to be the first women that failed and Eve was the second but betrayed due to the snake.

So how the hell does Hadzuki get pregnant and all? Well they never say but seems her world is part of a book so the above applies.

THE WHOLE THING is just a adventure through different time periods and by means of books.

All the ecchi and violence was........euuuhhhhh good but not necessary.

Well I saw the DVDs so nothing censored there but still..oh man crazy fantasy I WILL LEAVE IT AT THAT.

I really disliked the ending. I mean, Hazuki's DEEPLY in love with Hatsumi and they must be separated, and they will see each other again... as mother and daughter.

I somehow don't see Hazuki's feeling toward Hatsumi as motherly..

Even though it's really awkward, I found the ending to be extremely sad. I mean, even if they would be sharing their time together in the future, it would seem as if that lost time will never be made up. She seems so alone at the end...

Was she just made pregnant afterwords too? I'd hate to see Hazuki with a male...

Kind of a random story with a "world of the week" setup.

The ending was pretty hugely disappointing. Nearly the entire series is about Hazuki searching for Hatsumi because she loves her and then in the end, Hatsumi just rewrites Hazuki's history and decides to come back as her child. Eve has been through countless worlds so i guess it isn't surprising that she treats peoples' lives like toys, but it was pretty sad that Hazuki wasn't special to her. Taking off like that and saying she will come back as her child was pretty low.

Was Hatsumi the one writing the love letters to Hazuki? It seemed kind of implied, but the text wasn't translated so couldn't be sure. Not to mention Hatsumi seemed to be dating someone as well.

Ending could have been a little better. I felt real bad for Hazuki, but Eve obviously thought it best. But at least they get to see each other again.

A little disappointed with the final episode, but episode 12 was an absolute masterpiece which has swayed this series from an 8/10 to a 10/10.

I agree with what's been said already, the show was actually very interesting and entertaining and really shone trough at times.
It shifted nicely trough all range of emotions and moments, with plenty of laughter and lust filled scenes only take take a sharp turn down the road of hardship and tears. And still manage to maintain a good balance between the two.

But as pointed out the ending was a huge disappointment, I would almost say it's one of those endings that makes you regret watching the show all together.
When it finally looks like Eve will be true to her feelings and Hazuki will get her love, it all falls apart and Eve says she can't do it.
Instead she will eventually come back as Hazuki child, at which point she presumably will have a husband, a new life and be considerably older. What does that imply? That Hazuki is going to have underage, yuri, incest sex with her long lost love inform of her child?
Honestly I would like to have a serious talk with the person who decided this was a good ending, since by the look of things no one agrees with it...

A love triangle really, Lilith edges ahead just by a little. Crappy fillers but overall entertaining. I wonder if Aya=Adam though.

I felt awkward about all the damn angst the main character had to deal with while everyone else is all ecchi and happy. It was sad but I thoroughly enjoyed watching the series.

Also it takes time to think about the storyline- it is bit confusing. Only for hardcore anime watchers.

Yeah ending kinda sucked, episode 12 was much better. Its sad to see Hazuki alone like that and pointless for Eve to be reborn as her child since she can't really remember her except that video she left. But still i liked seeing Lilith and Eve together ^^

All in all i liked the series and the worlds they went to were amusing to watch, i enjoyed it quite a bit.
And who the heck is Aya anyway??

Well a solid 7/10

Looks like I will be on a minority because I was the one who liked the ending. I mean, it's not that happy and I personaly would prefer it to be yuri dream come true for Hazuki. Yet it can't be done if we to remain true to the characters. And I realized that for another possibility of Hazuki killing Hazumi and then herself it's too much to ask for a better ending than what she had. No, I couldn't bear that if Hazuki should die in despair before Hazumi's dead body. Somehow I felt a sort of fulfilment from the actual ending, it's lighter that I expected it would be.

Though the ending sucked, the series itself was pretty enjoyable. Would give a 8/10 being considerate XD

@elsword As forl the ending it IS pretty vague, and it's up to the audience as to how they see it... For example... Hatsumi somehow altered the past erasing her existence from Hatsuki's memories and coincidencially the future baby Hatsuki will have is Hatsumi herself which the story will most likely go on (again) if that baby turns 16... Even if I really doubt if Hatsuki will ever find a guy hehe;;

Does anyone know where I can get the VN? Search everywere and still can't find it :(

wow, after all that, hazuki doesn't even end up with hatsumi. and when they DO meet again, they're going to be mother and daughter WTF?!

im pretty sure anyone who watched this series definitely does NOT want hazuki to end up being with a GUY, especially with the strong love she had for hatsumi.

however, their final make-out scene was AWESOME!!! really wish they ended it with the two falling in love and being together forever :/

This is the most ruined a series can get from a bad ending. The amount of anger it inspires is proof that it was an excellent show up till that point. Im just so mad. Why would the author do that? I could have handled a "bad end" like if hazukii had killed eve or if lilith had killed everybody but what they gave us is just a big middle finger as far as im concerned.

I have absolutely no idea what to rate this. Anywhere from a 0 to 9 seems justifiable.

To be honest I didn't like the ending. I'm usually okay with bittersweet endings, but I wished Hazuki would get what she yearned for, especially because everyone else got what they wished for. She still has to spend a lifetime with Hazuki as her daughter, so why couldn't she continue the life she lived so far? Or she could have invited Hazuki to their world too. Overall, the series was entertaining, though the plot still seems incoherent, but I've seen worse.

I would have given a higher score if the ending would have been better.

P.S.: Who the hell was that guy, who was played by Fukuyama Jun? He was the narrator, but he didn't even have any other role in the whole show.

Ehh I found it overall pointless.

A few episodes were ok. Episode 10 was interesting.

A few interesting concepts in the anime.

I do like yuri and such. But ehh. It took me SOOO long to finish this.

So many more things could have happened IMO. Meh.

The last episode was ok I guess. Overall... Meh 4/10. Could have been better.

Is it only me or is Eve's character so much different when she is back to the library with Lilith again? She is almost a Crybaby like Lilith now. I was really charmed by Eve's character when she came back to tell all 3 persons that she has to go.

And yeah i neither like the ending, if they want to give the watcher a slightly bad feeling they could have just made Eve say that she will be in Hazuki's Heart forever or something like this, i always hate this kind of stuff but it would be better thant the actual ending.

All in all Lilith made this series fun, those ecchi scenes were on purpose, morely like to seduce hazuki or adam, so for me this isn't a ecchi anime at all. She really made me laugh. Poor hazuki, i wished the best for her.

I finished this anime long ago but never commented on the ending, which I kind of like. More on this later. It is a strange anime and while the eps themselves are so-so, it becomes a feature, actualy. They are simplistic and/or kind of cliche. But together they give that fantasy feel of a story about a story, which then feels real because of a character that wants to live her dream of being with her love. Hazuki is a sad character and likeable, I can sympathise with her, although she is just a character from a "book", but so are all anime characters realy. Her story is not rich or complex, but neither are most humans', yet she is sincere and strong and beautiful. The ending, as it is, gives her more than she could realy hope to achieve, given the nature of Hazumi - she could never be with Hazuki like she wanted, and if she did they would have to part sooner rather than later. In the end, though, Hazumi gives Hazuki a gift and I am sure she has a "happy end" to her book and also, Hazumi would remember her, so it's rather "I would be in your heart" for Hazumi more kind of ending.
I don't know what the game is like, probably more weird and has more of a plot, but the anime is easily one of those I remember as feeling special or having that feel of being simple, yet touching. I also felt the ending to be uniqie and properly bittersweet. The anime had some good fun moments, and it has enough of yuri to make a point and it's very erotic.

I gave this anime an 8. I think it's amazing. It's one of the best FANTASY anime I have seen. Usually in fantasy anime when something weird and unexplained happens, it's stupid to me, but it's different with this one for some reason. I think it's amazing.

I didn't like the ending.

What is the point of having her reborn as her daughter only to have her disappear again when she turns 16 so Hazuki has to suffer once again?

no, no its like this she is reincarnated but only the body not the spirit, just think of hazuki's daughter as a clone of eve, that's the evidence that her daughter won't disappear when she turns 16

the real eve is with lilith babysitting lilith they're kinda like ui and yui from K-on!

and i heard lilith and eve having sexual relationship they're awesome

It was a good series, but the ending sucked.

There was also A LOT of fanservice for this being an older show.

Basically every episode had some fantastic big tittied girl in a slutty outfit.

Then episode 7 had the Hatsumi nipple scene and 2 Hazuki masturbations scenes.

Then episode 10 had the fox girl and I guess she wasn't wearing panties because I torrented the DVDs and her vagina was totally censored.

Then episode 13 had the flashback of Hatsumi nipple, then Hazuki's nipple, a bunch of panty shots, and just her walking around in her underwear for no reason. Plus that semi lewd scene between Lilith and Eve at the end.

All the sweet fan service aside, the ending was really bad. It seemed like Eve rewrote Hazuki's memories, but at the same time, Eve told Lilith that she somehow wound up in a different book. So I guess she went into a book with the same exact timeline, but Hatsumi didn't exist there, and Eve altered her memories to fit that world without Hatsumi?

But then that scene where Hatsumi turns 16 and doesn't disappear...was that Hazuki having a dream about what could have been? Or was that happening at the exact same timeline, but in a different world where Hatsumi still existed and didn't disappear?

And then after altering her memories, she decides that she is going to become Hazuki's future child? I found that bizarre. It WOULD work because she doesn't remember her anymore, but I don't understand why if you loved someone so much you would decide to erase their memories and be their future child. Which also means that A: for some reason Hazuki will decide to not be a lesbian anymore, and B: future daughter Hatsumi will also disappear when she is 16, starting everything over again. Even if she doesn't have her first memories before, Eve is still technically putting her through the pain of losing her twice. And god forbid she did get her memories back...she'd be trying to fuck her own daughter.

Yea not happy with that ending. At all. Ffs, if Lilith could just go into worlds as she pleased, I don't see why Eve couldn't as well.

While the rest of the episodes were good, the flow was awkward. I mean it's an old show, but I was like wow why does episode 3 feel like it should be episode 2? And that happened with more than just episodes 2 and 3.

Side note: What happened to Seiren? She was with Milka, but she was associated with Gargantua before we saw her with Milka...so did she just decide to stay with her and not go back to Gar? We'll never know.

So it winds up being a bitter critique for (Japanese) societal expectations, limitations and views on homosexual relationships. Not really surprised that the ending is as infamous as it is and yuri fans (read: retards) generally disparage and denigrate YamiBou because of it.

Garganta's story - well, ok
The series is bad. It contains lots of random stories that are irrelevant.
The way they have found Eve was random.
What about Eve's comb? It was supposed to be powerful.
Why she disappear after 16 years? Why she cannot come back.
Lets allow Hazuki kiss Eve. Next time, lets erase her memories. Is Eve good or bad... I just don't... know anymore. It was so random.

... and fanservice is bleh (I think only episode with Quill: http://myanimelist.net/character/13640/Kuiru was funny - scenes about "eating" )

I was thinking about 7/10 but after episode 12 & 13 it went to 5 or 4.

Recently watched the series, watched the final scene 6 times and still got me a long time to get over this. Hazuki its such a good character, beatiful, cool, strong but not OP, have a gentle side and shows it often(specially with Milka in that scene <3) and her love for Hatsumi wich makes her refuse any other girl(Eve even said shes the first one to love her this badly)... T-T The author just wanted to be a dick, Hazuki got lots of that green light which made Garuganchua and Ritsuko immortal's, so its almost sure Hazuki is immortal as well, she could be with Hatsumi and Lilith in the library forever but NOOO let's give her the shitty bad ending. I don't know what to think about Eve, she seems to like being all gentle and stuff and them leaving all the people who liked her to suffer and seems to not see people much above toys since she considers her reincarnations just "interesting", but she in fact love Hazuki, the only one she really loves and don't see as a toy(she wrote those letters) but its incapable of returning to live as Hatsumi , she even said returning home with Hazuki was what she most wanted, i think that last moment was a farewell showing how she feels about Hazuki :(, erasing her memories may look like a dick move but if she can't be with her, erasing her memories its better than letting her suffer like the others Eve left behind(even if Hazuki feelings are so strong she can still remember something, like the pancakes).

This was one of the few series where i loved the main character, but the series itself its really confusing and left LOTS of unexplained stuff and plot holes(only god knows WTF happened with Seiren), its damn hard to tell the sequence of the events and every episode don't have any link with each other aside from the last two ones, but the ideia of the shown its really cool, the ecchi its not annoying, in fact its pretty beautiful, also loved the opening <3, not one of my favorite animes but i really loved it, the ending its the only crappy part.

About the rebirth as her child stuff, NO, i don't think Hazuki its going to end up with any guy, its mostly like she will be with one of the LOTS of girls who admires her, Hatsumi can birth from nothing since in one of her incarnations she was found on a Bamboo(lol), so at least Hazuki don't have to end up with a guy and can live normaly with any other girl from her school since the only thing between Hazuki and her lovely school harem was Hatsumi, this and i still believe she's immortal from the green light, its just imagination but maybe when Eve discovers about this they can be in fact together. 8/10

What did I just watch?
I am so confused by everything. I don't understand why Hatsumi was playing with people's lifes and made them suffer, only to act then like an innocent. I don't know who the cat/fox lady was, who that little creature with a hat was, who the bird was and why it is a must for Hatsumi to disappear at the age of 16. I also didn't understand the scene after the ending at all.

My enjoyment watching this series was very, very low, with only 2 episodes that I found interesting.

Just because you didn't get it doesn't mean it's not logical, your 'bad ends' would be stereotypical, but it was consistent with how Eve as 'magical' as her sister, Lain-like ending making sense.

@CCL_Sama same, weird isn't bad, you just expected to be spoonfed.

@Cioco no enjoyment of the comedy? The bird revealing everything wasn't exactly necessary for enjoyment.

@RPGX_Omega ironic that you say 'pointless', when that is exactly what your comment is with your vague 'could have done more'...

There is a certain whimsical quality to the series that could be enjoyable, and is visible in character's behavior as they visit separate worlds as pure outsiders with, in principle, arbitrary power over them. Even ignoring nonsense in the story of both having mambo-jambo magic powers they still go each place and do random stuff - problem is that each storyline is as bland as it gets, and awfully out of context. As a whole it is also extremely arbitrary and out of nowhere, on top of that boring.
Even when evaluated in its own fantast - after accepting the premise without questions and seeing how it goes - it is just awfully unremarkable and incompetent. Equally bad when I go with the flow and when I expect some reason and coherence. 3-4/10, closer to 3.

Honestly don't know how to rate this one. On the one hand, the actual story with Hatsumi/Eve and Hazuki (and by extension, Gargantua) is fantastic. On the other hand, it's encased in a bunch of filler like a poor man's Kino's Journey. Of that filler, only half I found interesting:

Train - bad
Milka - bad
Quill - alright
Samurai princess - meh (although it did provide extra backstory)
Spaceship kids -best
Universal Garden - decent for the world-building and advancing the story

Once Gargantua's story hit in ep 3, that's when I got in the groove.

I also found 90% of the comedy lame and distracting. That bird definitely didn't do any favors.

I really liked the ending. Sure, I was rooting for the girls to hook up after all but the bittersweetness was just as good.

If it had greater focus on the main story, then I'd give this a full 8, even up to a 9. But the filler drags it down to a 7. As such, I'll give it a generous 7.5.
