the only one Episode made opening/ending on ep.24.
With the only "Alone Again" theme in it. It was really a pity it was only in that episode. The good thing is that whenever Sullivan's song pop's in the radio I happily remember MI.

I'm personally a fan of the first theme, Kannashimi yo Konnichiwa- when I think Maison Ikkoku, that's just the theme that springs to my head. Heartfelt, sweet, yet melancholy- just like the show itself.

Second favorite would have to be the final opening, Hidamari- in part because of Kyoko just seems so nicely animated there, and that shot of the whole "loon squad" doing that little dance (including Souichiro and Grandma Godai:))

My favorite theme is the second ending, cinema. I just love it because it brings that romantic and melancholic atmosphere of the late 80's .

Don't talk to me about character development if Kaizuka Inaho or Slaine Troyard are in your favorites.

I like the "Alone Again" Opening the most, followed by the first Opening.

I like how they played the "Kannashimi yo Konnichiwa" theme at the very end of the anime. It related back to how everything first began.

I do love the special episode's openings and closings, but I feel you can't count them since they were only used once. They're not even counted in the op/end count. I think I like Suki Sa the most, and the Junko Ooyama ending theme (I usually call it the 'key' ending since it starts off showing a key) Every op/end in Maison Ikkoku is fantastic, and if I watch more then 10 seconds of it I feel like I have to watch the whole thing. So usually I'll put in my disc and never touch the remote.

The Gilbert O'Sullivan OP/EDs are my personal favorite. They capture the style of an era of songwriting that can never be recaptured today, the same way Maison Ikkoku does with storytelling. The songs feel colloquial the way Maison Ikkoku does about everyday living. Soft but entrancing.
