| interesting little cross over, but to me at least if felt like it was both a mediocre lupin film and a mediocre episode of conan smashed together with the hopes that the novelty of the two franchises crossing over would be enough to hold it together. Also, I can see why they chose to use a mostly new cast in the lupin reboot a few years later. All of the Lupin character voices sound old and grizzled and pretty unfitting for how the characters look, it was pretty disconnecting for me. All and all, while I didn't hate it, and it left me happy, as everything Lupin does, I still only thought it was OK at best. As a side note, Mouri sure seemed more competent here than in the early episodes of conan I have watched. (before you have a conniption fit because it's not on my list, I have no clue how many episodes I've watched, it's why I lot of anime that I have never finished and watched a long time ago aren't on my list) I'm guessing he did a reverse Homer Simpson over the years. |

| ok. quick question. i've been marathoning Conan since March 2022. my first run ever, i've left this franchise aside since i first heard about it in the 1990's. <yes i'm that old of an otaku> i'm up to ep525 i think. just stopped the TV series at the 'midpoint' approx. to get the Conan movies in. <of the fansubs before i hit the 'new' Funi-Roll subs in the 700's, i know, i know, i'm getting further behind every week> i just finished Conan movie 13, and saw the Lupin Conan special episode was released the same year. here's my question, so, my Lupin experience is... tiny. around 10 episodes of a dub probably older than most of the users here on MAL. ???do i need to 'bone up' on my Lupin before this special and the CvsL3 movie later on???... or can i just go with: guy with gun, guy with sword, guy who steals things, chick with big tits who never lets the guy who steals things boink her... and the idiot cop who always chases them. ???? till i get a good answer on this one i'm going to skip the special and the CvsL3 movie... because if i need a lot of background 'data' on Lupin... i'm just going to back burner these two titles for many months to come. i've got way WAY too many Conan episodes to enjoy... and other anime i'm watching... to bother trying to shove Lupin III into my schedule. :) thanks in advance for your help :) |

| @JCRide thanks for the rundown! :> i'll leave the special and movie till later on then. i really was worried i'd need to 'backfill' on Lupin with these two. but it seems like my general recall of that franchise will work out just fine! :D |
