No spoilers in this thread! I'm not posting any, and please don't you post any.

Is the story of The Journey of Shuna linked in any way to the Nausicaä manga or anime? I'm wondering because I'm planning to read and watch Nausicaä and was wondering if I need to read The Journey of Shuna too.
"He isn't dead, San. He is here with us now, telling us, it's time for both of us to live."
"And slowly... You come to realize..."
"They come without asking, and then they leave just the same.
But once you meet them, even if nobody ever knows it, that encounter will change your life for the better."

I think nope, there are some similarities, but those are saparete stories. So You musn't read Shuna when You want to read Nausicaa, but You should when you like Miyazaki-sensei works

Basically, Shuuna is Naushika prototype, sort of. It's story is a lot different but there are some recurring themes in it. Also, Shuna is considered inspiration for all later Ghibli works, if you look closely you'll find many designs and characters there that was later used in following works.
