that ending was kind of weird and seemed a little rushed.

but I'm glad Riho and Shido are finally a couple :D

I ended up enjoying this anime a LOT more than I thought I would. it still only gets a 6/10 though

I loved this anime and still have the video tapes of it. The theme is soooo sexy, its one of my favourites and unforgettable.

I was disappointed the series was so short. I also wanted to know more about Shido's past with Cain.

My one big idea of why the series was not continued was that it was so close to "Interview with a Vampire" by Anne Rice. From Cain (Lestat) making Shido (Louis) who later turned against him, yet still has an attraction there. Cain like Lestat always wanted Louis back. If Nightwalker had continued I think there definitely would have been more struggles between Cain and Shido.

Just as Shido admitted towards the end, that feelings among vampires change, and that how close you might have been to another...as time passes you drift away or most especially, your "creation" comes to hate you or fight against. Shido against Cain. Riho against Shido although it was resolved, I think they would have drifted apart eventually or some human come into Riho's life she became fascinated by or order for Riho/Shido to have drama.

I like yaoi and shounen-ai, but besides that, I don't care what genders are involves as long as it is a strong story and you feel emotionally for the characters involved. Had Shido been female, I would have felt the same towards the kiss. I think it was symbolic. To me it was shocking and sexy that they were both male, yet if you've read Anne Rice's the Vampire Chronicles there was always m/m pairs, and even throughout history in many cultures it was tolerated and often common.

I've written one fanfic about Cain and Shido, and hope to write more when I have the time.

Average ending to an average anime. I feel that this would have been a better series if they focused on the main characters more and their back story. I found the writing to be occasionally below average as well. Overall, 6/10. Pretty forgettable except for the OP theme.

I finally get to finish this series after picking it up at an anime rental store. It's been 7 years since then. I'm glad that I got to finish it.

Plot? There was no plot really just some exploration of what it means to have a vampire heart or a human heart. I didn't mind that there was no plot I just wanted to see Shido. The opening theme sounds very sensual and mysterious, the lyrics not so much as it was dark and poetic ^__^ (yay for Buck Tick who also did Trinity Blood)

I was however, disappointed with the development between Shido and Riho. They had something but it wasn't enough to push them into being a true couple? (*sigh* I could say the same for Abel and Esther from TB or Ryuki and Shuurei from Saiunkoku, Cloud and Tifa >__<)

Anyway, I did enjoy the small Yaoi moment as I did in Yami no Matsuei (hehehe). Was not surprised about that because I knew it was coming and I agree with shylovegrisha about the theme of disconnecting from creator and creation in Anne Rice's novels. It really did remind me of her after you mentioned it.

Overall, not a bad series but not praise worthy either...but from a fangirl perspective who likes bishounens and vampires..*O*..there's nothing else to say.

I think it's just average. Some episodes were good, while some were just lacklustre. In terms of character development, it was poor. Overall though, it's okay but not something I'd consider memorable.

Speaking as a Shido-Riho shipper, I'm glad those two ended together.

Kind of a weird ending...I wanted to know more about Cain and Shido cause they heavily implied that they were lovers in the past, but seeing how Shido doesn't remember much of his past...
Its cute that he got together with Riho, but it feels kind of forced, like he's with her so what happened in the image/illusion thing doesn't happen.
I actually enjoy the thought of Yayoi and Shido being a thing and it was implied, but then it became a lot less when Riho became a vampire so that was a bit disappointing.
I also wanted to know more about Guni, but overall I'm pretty happy with it. It was a lot better than I thought it was going to be so that's cool.

This had the potential to be a masterpiece. The sexual tension between Shido and Yayoi in the first episode really turned me on haha...

I really don't like Miho and Guni, they take away the darkness in this series, besides Yayoi becomes overshadowed by them.

Anyway, I wish the story was a bit more mature, darker and more violent, but I guess that's not possible.

I fell in love with Yayoi, wish I was a vampire and be close to her neck..

I think this anime is nothing but a huge fanfic about interview with the vampire.
It's rushed, yet interesting.

Yes, they're so together. Forever. ♥

eww @ the yaoi kiss

wtf, was I a homophobe when I was 14? I certainly have changed my mind since then.

I don't remember this show at all but I feel like I would give it much lower than a 6/10 now.

Wow that episode went from one of the best of the series to total shit. The ending was stupid.

I feel like the early episodes of this series (1-4) were alright, nothing amazing but good. I mentioned this in an earlier eps discussion but I wonder if those episodes were originally made as an OVA? They were a little longer than normal and were also much more graphic in terms of violence and nudity. The remaining 8 episodes were far more tame and were lackluster in comparison.

The show never really went anywhere either, it spent most of it's 12 episodes just circling around the same plot points. Cain continues to be lurking in the shadows but no confrontation takes place, the Breeds never really get much explaining beyond the basic Demon fare. Riho gets some development in that final episode beyond lovestruck teen/eternal romantic/shoujo trash lol, but even then the whole thing is retconned at the end. Then the relationship reveal comes out of nowhere and doesn't match Shindo at all and is as previously mentioned stupid.

So yeah I'm pretty underwhelmed by the series overall, I was going to give it a 6/10 but the last episode pissed me off so much I'm gonna drop it to a 5/10. Nothing about the show is offensively bad but it's certainly not good either.

They really got me in the beginning, I was sad to see Riho go to the darkside. I was disappointed she didn't really have a role in the series, especially after she got turnt.

So was Cain still alive? Or another one of those Force Ghosts?

Too bad they never continued with that demon girl from the well episode, that had potential for a good episode or arc.

Overall, a good series and I would've liked more.

I freaked out when I thought Riho went rogue. Good thing it was all an illusion.
If you are going to disagree with me, don't bother talking to me. I will seriously hurt you!
