well......... this show had like an exciting first two minutes.....like they were setting up for something epic. but it toned down significantly. it was an enjoyable show to watch but its like someone telling you that the ride is going to be like a race car driver, and it turns out to be a slow boat ride in a calm pond.

well S2 seems like it'll be all work.

This show had so much promise, and then it went to hell. The first episode and the OP set up this great "Ninjas with WoodTech vs. Shadowy Conspiracy with FutureTech" premise that had all the anachronistic awesomeness of Zero no Tsukaima.

Then the shadowy conspiracy gets replaced by inept turtle ninjas, and the show just goes on tangent after tangent until the last episode, in which everything turns out to be a big mistake and the enemy walks off into the sunset.

This is made even more painful by the fact that the OP reminds you every episode how good this show could have been.

On a different note, these characters are idiots! Now, idiocy can be funny and appropriate (see: Dragon Half, Ai Kora, Saru from Seto no Hanayome), but here it was just stupid. If I was a normal teacher at a ninja school, where combat happens daily, and I happen to be really god-damn good at darts, I'd start thinking about carrying a couple kunai or shuriken with me at all times, just in case, but Hayato doesn't even bother.

The tease for S2 at the end showed some promise, hopefully they'll get it right this time.

like the users above me I agree, i read the plot, liked it, added it to my plan to watch list, started watching, first 2 minutes, i was all right! this will be awesome!

Waiting and waiting in each episode when will they start with the mystery of where himawarii came from??

Also I think hayate's character was completely unecessary.
It takes the focus off the "what i though was the plot" and himawarii.
A normal teacher who is otherwise selfish and useless, always having been saved by himawarii who is supposed to be training to become a ninja.

Had they not included him and gotten the master of disguise who's name i forgot because he was only in the beginning and only about a few times in 2 episodes instead.
In my opinion would have been 100% better.

But I am looking forward for season 2, despite the disappointment season 1 left.

And the characters were all likeable. except hayato :/
