I have been recently following this series and the relative fanfics and was really saddened by the fact that the fans are continuously bashing Akira's character (Kanata's childhood friend from episodes 33-34). In some fanfics they even make her evil, while Miyu is of course always "kind and with a heart of gold". The only thing Akira was "guilty" of in the cartoons is loving her childhood friend and wanting to watch the sunset with him. I really feel sorry for her as I would feel sorry for real-life people who lost their childhood love to somebody else.
There is already a canon Kanata x Miyu ending, what else do they want? Why such hatred?
By the way, is there even ONE fanfic in this world with a Kanata x Akira ending?

I would have preferred Kanata being with Akira, because I almost always support childhood friend pairings. Well, technically Miyu can also be considered a childhood friend, but she and Kanata knew each other only briefly as children and didn't even remember each other.
