| too much domestic drama in this show for my liking. Only a third through and it seems to have run out of steam already. |
| "I'll try to control my drinking" As someone who lost a grandma to the demon drink and whose mother has destroyed her health with it to the extent that she needs a cane to walk at 49, I call bullshit. She regularly stole her daughter's money to feed her habit, she may love her but her actions speak louder than words. Addiction is stronger than love, that's the harsh reality. A severe, depressed alcoholic like her!? Sure there'll be ups and downs, she may learn to mask it better but when the chips are down she will drink herself into the grave. Monica's mum is not fit to raise her, Ironically, given the subject of the episode, the only reason I had a reasonable childhood was because my stepdad picked up the pieces when my mum was at rock bottom. A swing and a miss on the moral there guys. |
