Ro-Kyu-Bu! light novel author Sagu Aoyama confirmed on Sunday that production on a second season of the Ro-Kyu-Bu! television anime has been green-lit. The announcement was first made in Sunday's Dengeki 20th Anniversary Festival event.
The title of the second season is Ro-Kyu-Bu! SS. The "SS" has two meanings: "Shōgakusei wa Saikō daze!" ("Primary School Girls Are Great!!") and "Second Season."
Yeah apparently it was, I'm in the middle of watching the first season before the second comes out.
EDIT: Ok started watching today and finished right now. I could see why it gets another season, it's one of few all loli anime and it's a sports anime. They left open the story for another season, seems like it will be ok, possibly introduce more girls too.

I'm very much looking forward to this. However, to make Season 2 truly meaningful, there should be another set of girls to feature.
Fortunately, the recent volume of the Light Novel this anime is based on showed a new set of 5 girls similar to Tomoka and the rest of the gang, only one year younger. Since they are newcomers, they probably have to work their way up from the bench.
Although, they're actually quite strong; the main five had to come back from behind to win against them. Take note, the same main five proved to be a very tough customer for their last opponents, Suzuridani, one of the most powerful elementary girls teams in their prefecture.
The new girls for Keishin (the name of Tomoka's school), are as follows:
Kagetsu Hakamada - Hinata's younger sister, but is actually much bigger than her. We have already seen her in the first season, in Episode 9. She has incredible stamina and lower body strength, giving her great potential as a Forward-Center, something that Keishin really needs to complement their starting Center, Airi-chan.
Tsubaki and Hiiragi Takenaka - Natsuhi's twin sisters. Since they play with their brother so often, they have a pretty solid foundation in basketball for their age. They like to play with each other on the court, and their game centers around decent ball handling and fast passes which can confuse opponents.
Mimi Balgueri - A stoic French girl with otaku parents who were college friends of Subaru's father. She's basically Tomoka 2.0, though she's around the same height as Hinata. However, she tends to try winning games all by herself, very much like how Tomoka used to be before transferring to Keishin.
Masami Fujii - Saki's rival whose family owns a sushi shop near her family's okonomiyaki shop. Saki beats her out at pretty much anything, much to her chagrin. She tries to surpass her by training herself to become the loli-fied version of Hisashi Mitsui and Ray Allen, although elementary school basketball does not include a three-point line.
By themselves, they're pretty much the same as the main five, but with some differences. When they played a game with the main five, their positions were as follows.
Keishin Academy
Grade 6 vs Grade 5
Mimi - PG - Saki
Masami - SG - Tomoka
Kagetsu - C -Airi
Hiiragi - SF - Hinata
Tsubaki - PF - Maho
As a team, Kage and Mimi got some pretty awesome pick-and-roll going, the twins run the play, and Masami is insanely accurate from long range.
The main five also got some pretty awesome level-ups themselves. Hinata now excels at trick plays, Maho now rivals Tomoka in speed, Saki can now run plays with minimal input from Subaru himself and even play mind games with the opposing point guard, Airi can turn into loli-Akagi at will, and Tomoka's slasher skills are now more unstoppable than ever.

Don't think so. Vol.12 of the Light Novel is going to be released this February, and Keishin has to play in the tournament for that rematch vs. Suzuridani!

Guess, we'll see 10 fanservise episodes and 2 eposides of basketball.

Unless they make it 2-cour (24 eps), but that also means more fanservice eps.
Hopefully, Vol.12 should be the start of inter-school tournament action.
