After all he's the sort of character that is widely hated. My reasons are that I like male lead roles who don't act like typical heroes whose only characterisation is being a man but at the same time he isn't like most harem leads (he actually has a personality). You see what ruins many harems leads for me isn't them being weak or spineless (which I don't have a problem with) but that the makers try so hard to make them likeable they end up being personality-less standard nice guys. In other words I like Taku for actually being different and more realistic. Also while he doesn't always do the right thing neither do real people and I doubt I would be much better in his shoes. At least he's not a rapist, a murderer, a child molester nor does he go round getting drunk and starting fights. |
I liked him because of his realism too. I really loved the fact that everything got to him. There was emotion and you could feel the fear through the screen as you pretty watched a man suffer and go slightly insane until things are more or less figured out. I love him. I agree will all that you said. |
When well written the socially awkward character appeals to me far more than the usual fearless, unbeatable hero. Give me someone who can feel fear, self-doubt, sadness like a real person, give me someone who can fail like a real person. What does annoy me is when characters like Taku have their intelligence questioned for not being violent, aggressive psychopaths, for not being sexually active (or often even caring about being so) and of course the worst crime any guy can apparently commit, being shy. I have three words for such people, Sir Isaac Newton. |
I know! I loved him going insane! It's realistic to me. Humans in that kind of situation. Where you even question yourself in the crimes being committed. I think my favorite part was when his sister disappeared and how he freaked out. His reaction to that was just amazing. I love Taku so much. Lolololol I agree with you statement. I also like it when a weak person becomes strong. That's always awesome. Nothing wrong with being shy XD. |
I actually like Taku far more than the show itself, in fact he's the reason I watched it till the end, a bit like MGLN and Fate. I won't go into my reasons here since that would be more for a review but when a single character can make an entire show worth watching that is something. |
