what's missing in the manga?

i was considering to starg reading this manga, but then, looking for informtions about it, i discovered that zero no tskaima is based on a light novel which is still incomplete. Now, since what's missing is definitely the ending, i was wondering how the manga dealt with that, i guess they had to create a new ending to fit the manga, or maybe they abruptely closed the story at some point. So, before i start reading it, i want to know: does the lack of the proper ending affect the story in any way? Will i feel incomplete after the 7th tankobon or satisfied?
