THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
This was probably one of the most depressing things I've ever watched. From now one I will, and I mean this, be a pacifist. No video about any World War touched me so much as Saikano and this episode did.

o_O Perhaps this feeling of disguise against war will lessen over time, but I'm sure I will never look at this subject the same.

9/10.

This OVA resumed the series very well.
But what i loved in it was the point of view presented by Mizuki.
Her thoughts and the capability to understand Chise's feelings made it very interesting.
Also, it completed the series, giving us full understanding of the situation around Chise.
I suggest (for those who have intention to see this OVA) to first see the series (to understand the background). It'll make you enjoy this OVA as a masterpiece.

It would be less confusing and more enjoyable if they combined the OVA and the tv show together. Well that aside, the OVA was really nice and answered a lot of questions :)

Completely agree with this.
It kinda felt weird not knowing what was going on with the war during the series and this sums it up a bit better.

Mizuki's POV was a great addition to showing what Chise was going through.

8/10 for a really good addition to the series.

Pretty lovely OVA's I must, really didn't know what they'd present us with, but I really like the way they put everything in a different perspective!

All in all a very lovely series!

I liked Mizuki but it was terrible just like the main show.

This complements the main show really well and fills in some of the plot holes. I dunno why Sentai Filmworks didn't license this OVA and package it alongside the main series.

At least the old OOP DVD is easy to find and is cheap.

Acceptable eggs, show the other side of the story or better show a little bit of what was not shown in the story. This OVA is just telling what they left out, but it doesn't have the anime vibe. I think the coolest thing is that they delve a little deeper into what chise was going through in the battles, what was missing in the anime, we could imagine, but it's always better to show it instead of leaving it to our imagination.
After seeing this OVA it's impossible not to think that the whole war was kind of pointless or at least poorly explained, if they were fighting humans why the fuck did they turn girls into pseudo aliens mutant weapons? Like they were literally annihilating several cities in the fuck and the most amazing thing is that no one surrendered, man it's very amazing the guys fighting with weapons a being with the power of an atomic bomb and no one stopping to think about giving up and the worst is Japan facing a normal war decided to create a weapon that they can't even control that looks more alien than anything else lol.
Although these OVAs show what was missing, it's even cool to see but highlights the inconsistencies in the script even if it was the background for a tragedy, there are things that must be explained.
An observation, it's amazing how love triangles, if I can call it that, converge lol
This story was multifaceted, it seems that so far it has only been shown 40% even less of it all, with the end of OVA 2 it is clear that there was a lot behind it and even then nothing was explored, at least an explanation, even if 1 of the 13 eps from the anime was rushed, I could have explained.

Pretty great! This helps conclude the main story and setting, while also adding an interesting side plot. Very enjoyable OVA! : )
