OMG LOL HIKARU AND SAI EXERCISING XD Ahahaha that's amazing XD They were so cute doing it too! :P
Wow, Isumi sure does play slowly huh o_O I guess being cautious is good but ... they had so few moves even after people were finishing! O_O Ochi left and went to watch Waya ... man he has such small eyes LOL XD
Uh oh ... Isumi moved his stone! D: I guess it's just like chess, you're not allowed to do that ... oh craps lol X_X
Wow next episode looks really good ... I mean obviously Hikaru wants to win, but yea, don't you want to finish the game?! :S I dunno which one I'd prefer ... say something, Hikaru! No, wait, don't! Aaggghhh I dunno! D: It'd be better if he didn't right?! Although he's tempted ... OTL Not to mention angry Hikaru smashing pillows everywhere ... looks like everyone's starting to crack under the pressure! D:

Wow. just wow, the last few seconds got me tense up. I want Isumi to win, but I don't want him to win this way. ): He could have won if it wasn't for his own mistake. ): Tension is rising in the exam hall now.

ah that sucks. he has to decide whether he should ignore it for the sake of his friend or call it out because it's against the rules

hmm Akira chasing after future Hikaru, that's a good way to describe their rivalry

The struggle is sooo real. Isumi is under much pressure that he was probably pushed to do that. But if that was me, even if I am his friend, I will really call him out. This should be a fair fight dude!

That bastard Isumi should just resign and stop being a loser. I see he's hesitating to call it in.

Wonder if he'll do the right thing?

from some reason this episode was much less tense than yu-song, probably because instead showing the game they showed anything else besides that.
and hikaru's board always seen like they just in the middle of the start.
i understand that they need hikaru to win isumi but couldn't since isumi supposed to be stronger, but losing like this his senses?

Hikaru´s decission, He complains and wins or continues as if nothing had happened, but what is clear is that his opponent is unfocused, whatever it is, Hikaru has won the game.

Ah, "Hikaru no Go Episode 39," you say? What a monumental disappointment that episode was. While the series itself has its merits, this particular episode was an affront to anyone with a modicum of taste. It's as if the creators decided to take everything that made the series engaging and throw it out the window.

The pacing was atrocious, dragging on like a never-ending Go match with no discernible strategy. The character development, which is usually a strong point in the series, was virtually non-existent. It's as if the characters were mere pawns on a Go board, moved around aimlessly without any thought to their individual arcs or the overarching narrative.

And let's not even talk about the animation quality, which took a nosedive in this episode. It felt like I was watching a poorly drawn fan animation rather than a professionally produced episode. The lack of attention to detail was glaringly obvious, making it a chore to sit through the entire episode.

In short, Episode 39 was a blight on an otherwise decent series. It failed to capture the essence of what makes "Hikaru no Go" enjoyable, leaving me questioning why I even bother with the series to begin with. If you're looking for quality storytelling and character development, do yourself a favor and skip this episode. You'll thank me later.

@Ranxomare Ah, so you think Hikaru's win was a result of his opponent being "unfocused"? How utterly naive. It's as if you've completely missed the point of competitive Go—or perhaps you've never understood it to begin with. Hikaru's win was nothing more than a fluke, a byproduct of the series' need to propel its protagonist forward regardless of logic or skill.

Your assertion that "Hikaru has won the game" is laughably simplistic. Winning a game of Go isn't just about the end result; it's about the strategy, the skill, and the mental acuity involved. By reducing it to mere "complains and wins," you're trivializing the very essence of the game and, quite frankly, showcasing your own lack of understanding.

So, while you may be content with such a shallow interpretation, those of us with a deeper understanding of the complexities of Go—and storytelling in general—find your viewpoint woefully inadequate. Perhaps it's time to reevaluate not just your understanding of the episode, but of the series as a whole. You're welcome.
