It was a decent movie, but it would have been much better if they hadn't tried so hard to deify him.

Well he's a friggin' rock god of shamizen who have reached enlightenment playing his instrument! LOL Okay deification aside he's still a one shamizen rock star, he's sticking it to the man in the era of revolution, freedom and change. Anyway this is one good vantage point to see the tumultuous period that was the Meiji Restoration.

I thought Tamana's performance was really good, even hearing it the second time in their practice still sent shivers down my spine. ^_^

I wish they have shown him marrying Yuki, have kids, happy ending and all that shit but I still liked it after the ending credits rolled, and the last narration. 8/10
You see there's no need to wonder where your god is,
Coz he's right here! ...and he's fresh out of mercy.

Could have showed a little bit more of him with Yuki (I mean, come on) and the enlightment part annoyed me a little bit, but I get it (even if it's on my own way, I guess?). Solid movie overall, I really liked the story, but the sound in the "shamizen battle" could've been better. 30min more would have been good to this movie. Anyways, still a 9/10.

That duel was intense, both were great in view but that performance by Nitarou was A+++. That guy was a machine on that shamisen, I really enjoyed his performance. Too bad he didn't marry Yuki, they would've been great together.

8/10.

Great movie about the shamizen. Nitaro had it hard but he never gave up, and luckily enough there was always someone who can trust.

That is definitely Akio Ōtsuka who voices the father.
