| Wow, this chapter was one of the best things I've seen in some time never expected this when I first started reading. |
| That was painful to read, adults should never put this much pressure and expectations on their children. Let them find out what they want to do with their life. Let them make their own mistakes. You can teach them and give them advice on things, but don't make the "normal road" their only option. I was wrong about him not actually having mental illness, although it seems like it really did went away after treatment. "Maybe he just didn't want to be a grown up." I think a lot of us could relate to that. |

i believe the knots in his ears represent the reoccurring things he hears from the adults constantly telling him, so much so that he can't hear the classmate. --- this entire chapter really spoke to me. for one thing, ryu possibly started getting anxiety attacks from the pressures and hopelessness that he felt from getting good grades, something that my own generation and myself suffer with tremendously. anxiety is from a build up of previous problems, so this had already started when he was younger, but had blown up in high school, when your brain is almost literally rearranging itself from the younger years. i had already suspected that he was childlike because he didn't want to become and adult, something i again resonate with, as i am told i give off a younger kid vibe even for my just reaching lawful adult age this year. it's possible he hated the adult world, but that's just pushing speculations onto him; i can say for sure i had been disgusted and afraid of adults ever since i was 12 or 13yrs old. their world is horrendous and i see nothing desirable about it. not only rich children can relate with ildeung and ryu. i also don't believe he was suffering from mental illness, because pressures of brain and anxiety alone can do wonders to a person, especially a person of such a young mind. heck fear alone can make you see and speak to things that aren't there. what's the best part is my realisation that for all the outcries yun and ildeung desperately said to ryu, he is the character who truly needs to be saved. by his harmlessness as the adult he is, he is undeservedly and indirectly creating harmful situations all because he's not an adult like the rest. i'm pretty hesitant to believe he's a real magician, but i wouldn't be surprised if he used real magic. that would explain a lot of otherwise unexplainable situations in the story. |
