WTF TOKI! There was enough room in that nuclear shelter! Haha but at least wouldn't have to hide his illness anymore. It didn't look like he planned that at first, and only thought of it afterwards lol.

They also talked too much IMO during his fight vs Raoh.

I agree., I wasn't sure why he just didn't go in. I have not seen/read the original version but I think it would have worked better if he was about and about trying to protect people and didn't get to the shelter in time.

I guess it might be because he knew he was sick and didn't want Raoh to be the successor so he wanted to make sure Kenshiro was alive and well.

This was a pretty cool piece though, all the characters are so ridiculously cool!

So in this version Toki was sick before he was exposed to extreme radiation during the bombing?

That kind of takes the meaning out of his decision to stay outside the shelter, and indeed in this version the shelter doors close on their own instead of needing to be pulled closed by Toki.

In the original version he's consciously giving up a promising future as the successor to Hokuto Shinken in order to save Kenshiro and Yuria, establishing his benevolent and self-sacrificing character and making his subsequent failure to stop Raoh's cruel ambitions all the more tragic. This version is giving that up and I don't see what it gains in the balance.

Is the Sara here supposed to be the same Sara from the New Fist of the North Star OVA? Another impulse to add meaningless connections between parts of the story that only look kind of weird when view in the big picture. Sara spent so much time with Toki but had never heard of Kenshiro? She and Kenshiro almost meet a time or two only to run into each other years later? Not to mention that it seems to contradict the NFotNS OVA: there Sara said she learned her medical form of Houkto Shinken from her father (part of a lineage of a failed aspirant to the succession) but here it seems that Toki teaches her.

I wondered about this as well, so I checked their names and they are spelt differently: here Sara is サラ, and there Sara is サーラ, so I don't think they are supposed to be the same character. Even their hair colours are different. Besides, as you already pointed out, here Sara is a doctor, and there Sara is a healer

The song was nice. For some reason I thought of Kalafina's EDs from The Garden of Sinners, then looked up the author: Kajiura Yuki. Figures...

Didn't expect to see so much new stuff about Toki, nice to see he had someone at his side who cared for him, he definitely deserved that

what a good OVA, Hokuto Shinken really does bring misery and pain to all those who leant it huh?

Toki battled through sickness and still sought to do the right thing in such a hopeless and bleak post-apocalyptic world. He's a legend that left an impact on Kenshiro and all those he helped.
