| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Seeing Xin Hong get his own arc, after he'd been restricted to the comic relief / the nice guy the heroine abuses role ever since surprise kissing her (before failing to commit suicide in heroic fashion) was rewarding. I was starting to get frustrated, following Xiang Ying falling for another older guy--ignoring the fact Xin had sacrificed EVERYTHING for her. An old flame of his appearing, and Xiang getting jealous, evened the score and made the series reminiscent of City Hunter. It's obvious nothing is going to happen between the two EVER, but hey: at least Xiang is now showing some hints of affection in Xin's direction. That's better than nothing! The arc's standalone story was better than the other, non-CH arcs outside of the lengthy introduction, also. Bai Lan's struggle as she was torn between her duty and affection for her 'father' was well-written, AND THIS ARC ACTUALLY HAD SOME ACTION!!! I had been getting tired with how the whole world revolves around Kaori, her flashbacks and her heart SOMEHOW allowing her to co-exist with Xiang. It was cool at first but, like the father-daughter theme, it's been beaten to death with a stick by this stage. The series needed to start standing on its own again, like it did during its intense beginning, and this four episode arc made me happy because of this. |

It's not that cruel, he also has the option of committing suicide with his gun!" lol Welp, at least Xin Hong met Kaori and she gave him her blessing in a really cute way, with the sakura petal. |
