Why do the characters have Japanese-like names even though none of them are Japanese?

Yeah all of their first names are Japanese even though it is clear none of them are Japanese

Well in Brazil there are a lot of Japanese. So even though they aren't fully Japanese, they may be related to some people that are. A girl in my school is from Brazil and she's half Japanese, she has a Brazilian first name and a Japanese last name :D
