That said, I have some very mixed feelings about SnH. First, I must admit I'm not that big on manga. I very rarely read them at all, and when I do it generally is some comedy. Even then, I often don't get it: I feel panels are poorly chosen or that there are panels missing in between. For SnH I made an exception (to read, and to read non-comedy) simply because it hasn't been adapted into anime, while Gemini left me with a bit of a poor aftertaste. SnH does a few things extremely well, but other things are downright lacklustre. For starters, you can tell the MAL synopsis is actually correct and that SnH was indeed intended to replace Gemini completely, by the way the Hei & Yin relationship is handled. Hei x Yin simply wasn't that strong in the original DtB, or at least not on the surface, and only revelaed itself fully in Gemini. SnH seems to go for the same feeling, however without the Gemini story it just ends up rather flat. Overall I think the story of SnH is rather weak, and the fact that Azusa as a character has the appeal of a wallflower (pun intended) surely doesn't help either. To be honest I thought Hei himseld fell rather flat in SnH. He's badass as usual, but badass only, and with relatively little screen time. Finally SnH suffers from lack of Mao, Huang a lot of other strong supporting characters. What's good? Well, Parcel is, and the focus on Kirihara for the first half of SnH. Kirihara kinda deserves her own spin-off. I also thought Yin humanity came out a bit better, even if her relationship buildup with Hei suffered. Most of all though, it is NOT Gemini. However, there is one big problem with retconning Gemini, and that is that it inevitably denies the OVA's too, which were a gem of anime. SnH just isn't good enough to replace the OVA's. |

| I would have preferred watching an anime of this than what we got with Gemini. I didn't dislike Gemini, but it didn't come close to being as good as the first season. |
