Mako and Usagi together is quite funny.
Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated.~

Yeah, I quite liked the interplay between Mako and Usagi. Many a funny moment in this episode.

Zoisite and Master Kunzite are really creeping me out now.
Mako and Usagi are great together. I like how, instead of fighting each other for a man, they teamed up in the name of love. Awww.
Pretty sure you can see Jupiter's butt in her transformation.

Aww, I really like the interactions between Serena and Lida/Mako. They need to have more moments together. If I remember correctly, they do have another love escapade like this in one of the later seasons. Can't wait for that episode ^_^

Also, I thought it was cool how Lida and Serena didn't get overly jealous/competitive about Andrew. They really are good friends.

Funniest moment was when Lida strangled Darien for accusing her of being "wigged out" xD

The writers are really starting to have more fun with the characters. I'm loving that this is getting better as the episodes progress. I was getting worried my nostalgia was failing me.

Another yaoi moment between Kunzite and Zoisite...I'm sure that didn't pass muster in the NA version. Mako and Usagi are a good pairing for comedy, both of them are just a little bit love crazy.
Please don't feed the trolls!

Agree that Lida and Serena are a funny team. I watched the english version and Zoisite has a female voice actor so none of the scenes are yoai any more. But since Zoisite doesn't have breast it's easy to imagine it's a guy with a girly voice! *win*

This was a really hilarious episode! I think one of the reasons I love Makoto so much, is also because she gets along with Usagi so well. Usagi is often the butt of jokes or gets scolded by Rei and Ami, but the two of them get along really well and are pretty similar, too.

Plus this episode had a fair share of gayness, which is always nice. Zoisite is pretty cute indeed!

"The Love Rectangle" is a clever name, but where is it? Usagi and Makoto both have a crush on Motoki but Motoki has a girlfriend named Reika who faces the decision of studying abroad in Africa or sacrificing her education for love. It's more of a 3-vertex Steiner Tree than a rectangle. Either way, it's a great concept because all high-school couples have to face a similar decision when considering college. And it's a great idea to put the Rainbow Crystal inside Motoki's girlfriend. Makoto displays her unique personality in this episode and Mamoru goes back to playfully teasing Usagi. Even Master Kunzite and Zoisite reach first-base: kind of a big deal for the 90s.

My favorite scenes are: (1) Motoki and Mamoru chatting over coffee (2) When Motoki invites Usagi and Makoto into his house (3) Makoto flirting with Motoki. There's a lot of funny moments in this episode. Like when Usagi fawns over what a good guy Motoki is for having a clean apartment (Makoto cleaned it lol) and Usagi is too dumb to realize that being compared to a single-celled organism is insulting. I also think it's a funny running gag that she can't choose between Motoki and Tuxedo Mask. Motoki actually tells Mamoru "I would never date middle-school girls". After the whole Nephrite/Naru ordeal I thought we were just going to ignore this whole age-gap thing; but nope. Usagi is 14 in case you forgot. I really didn't want to be reminded of that but there you go, Motoki seems like a pretty sensible person. The only thing I didn't like is I found Reika a little boring. She's researching the origin of life on Earth which is cool, but nothing else noteworthy. We basically just want her out of the way. But it shows how mature Motoki is to have a smart girlfriend like that, and it shows how Makoto handles rejection compared to the crybaby Usagi: she's persistent and optimistic!
5/5

Motoki love triangle huh, glad he just sees them as little sisters.
Monster this time just looked punk, weakest design of the great monsters so far.

The writer is called Naoko Takeuchi.

Naoko is the author of the Manga, while Anime has different writers.
Those writers are less adapting the source material, and make their own episode stories instead. This episode, like many of Sailor Moon Episodes, is Anime Original.

Besides, Manga lacks this lot of interactions between characters, as characters feel less fleshed out in Naoko's Takeuchi original work. So it really is the achievement of the Anime writers.

This was a pretty hilarious episode, I feel Usagi and Makoto make a good comedy duo and share similarities with each other and I like that they both team up instead of fighting over one guy which was nice. Plus they really don't hide the fact that Zoisite and Kunzite are pretty much together, together in a sense. Plenty of funny moments in this and honestly I like this dynamic between the former two. Otherwise pretty good episode.

I love the relationship that Mamoru and Motoki have. I feel like if the girls were more aged up they could have more real interactions like the boys do.

This episode was fun! Usagi and Makoto competed over Matoki, despite him having a girlfriend. It was really funny how Makoto cleaned up his messy house, leading Usagi to remark on how cool it was that he was a neat guy. Also we learned about Zoisite's relationship with Kunzite. I didn't really expect that, and it makes Zoisite seem more relatable.
