This is a tutorial thread to help our members find their way around.

There are two ways to join the channel:
1) By downloading software and connecting through it.
2) By accessing online java IRC applications.

I'll start by explaining the first selection.
For starters, you'll have to download the client of mIRC (http://www.mirc.com/). After you've completed transferring, install and run the application. A pop up window will flash on your screen asking for information such as nickname, name and email. Of course, if you don't feel confident enough to leave your real name in there, I suggest you use a fake up, no probs. After entering that information, you should move to the "Connect" tab on your left, and follow to the "Servers" selection. Press the "add" button on your right and add "irc.purplesurge.com" (Without the " ") on the "IRC Server" insert box. Leave the ports as they are, give it a name and press "Add". Now, your newly added server should be listed on the "IRC Servers" list. Click on it and then click on the "Select" button. You'll be prompted back to the first tab, so press the Connect button.

If everything went smoothly, you should be logged in the server. Now just type " /join #Rokkenjima " on the chat bar and you shall be seeing us. ;)

===========================================

Those wishing not to download any software should select the second choice, using some online java app to join the chan. This is rather easy. Just google "Mibbit" and select the official website. Press "Lunch Mibbit Webchat", select Purplesurge as the server of your choice, pick up a nickname and press Go.
Wait for the app to connect with ther server and type " /join #Rokkenjima " on the chat bar. You should be on the channel now, have fun!
