| Hidorki Matsushiro, an avid collector of merchandise for a manga cartoon has been arrested after the floor of his 3rd story apartment gave way to nearly a metric ton of manga merchandising. Hidorki was 27 and lived alone. Over the course of a decade he collected towards a metric ton of merchandising for the Japanese children's cartoon called Neon Genesis Evangelion. The landlord of the property remained philosophical about the incident, "it wasn't so much the weight that brought down the floor [...] the merchandising was arranged on only a few shelves which over time created small aberrations in the brick and wood work, which lead to all this." "It's not only the floor that needs repairing," said a spokesman for the local water company, Cascal's Japan branch "the sheering of the building's masonry has caused fractures in the property's major XLPE pipes, all of which will need to be replaced." One of the residents saw the bright side, "I hadn't even heard of Neon Genesis Evangelion before this. I'm just glad nobody was hurt." |
