So this months book is a little early, but it makes no sense to start with June.

Anyway, this months book is "One Hundred Years of Solitutde" by Gabriel García Márquez.

One Hundred Years of Solitude is the history of the isolated town of Macondo and of the family who founds it, the Buendías. For years, the town has no contact with the outside world, except for gypsies who occasionally visit, peddling technologies like ice and telescopes. The patriarch of the family, José Arcadio Buendía, is impulsive and inquisitive. He remains a leader who is also deeply solitary, alienating himself from other men in his obsessive investigations into mysterious matters. These character traits are inherited by his descendents throughout the novel. His older child, José Arcadio, inherits his vast physical strength and his impetuousness. His younger child, Aureliano, inherits his intense, enigmatic focus. Gradually, the village loses its innocent, solitary state when it establishes contact with other towns in the region.

I like the idea of this thread, it would be nice if you posted a picture of each book cover triseke, so the thread would look deeper.

Why not? I've had to read it many times for school and it's actually quite a bit brilliant. Same as The Communist Manifesto. :)

so i finished the botm. Loved one hundred years of solitude, extremely rich and diverse family and the town itself seems to have a life of its own.

The only down side to it was that most of the characters have EXTREMELY similar names, and often the same names, so if you want to read this book, def get the one with the family tree at the beginning, it will make your reading so much easier.

So I just finished the book. I can't say that I loved it, but I did like it. It was a bit hard to read because of the names being so similar and I often didn't even know who i was reading about. xD

I'm gonna give it a 6 out of 10. :)
