Man, this show is tough when it comes to character remarks.

This episode also focused more on Niisato. I guess she just wants to live up to her own expectations no matter how hard it is. Realistically, she can only go so far but for someone like her, she's always aiming for new heights.

Interesting Azu focused episode. We got to learn more about her past. Well, at least she tries to be a bit better person, but I'm still not a big fan of her character.

Nice insert song btw.

Azu got a whole episode and she’s still a massive bitch 😭 there ain’t no saving her unfortunately, very annoying character. Yea you got bullied because you were fat ok join the club, stop eating, go on walks, don’t blame everyone else for your situation.

Glad Rinko told her ass off. You can choose to wallow in self pity and hate, or you can get out and make the most of your situation. Rinko became a model and capitalised on the lack of plus sized representation, embraced who she is and found someone who loved her for her which funny enough Azu literally has right now with the girls and doesn’t appreciate it. Yuina a much better person than I because no way I’d still be tryna get thru to her lmao

It does seem like she’s at least going to be cooperating going forward so there’s that. Bubble tension looked good too, not LL quality performance, but a solid 3DCGI and cute song!

We need more Mai in these episodes too. Her face card is so crazy

Yuina’s a goody two-shoes, which makes her the most likable in the series—but she’s also kinda stupid, so she has her own setbacks too. And of course, Azu—you can’t show your true ugly fat side to other girls now, not after insulting someone like Rinko, who’s suffering in the same way you once did.

Azu's personality was fixed a little.

As expected Keroppe, will take points like when he feels like it.

And we have another that will just make look like is helping.

Huh, I liked it. I think it's interesting to see how little by little we are learning about the dark side of the girls. This week (and previous) was Azu, next week will probably be Mai. Makes me think that's why Keroppe specifically choose them.

I do wonder if this will have a deeper meaning in future episodes.

I wonder if the girl at the end has a gambling or a shopping problem.

Seems like every girl has her own conflict and focus on the story, glad that Azu was the first to be done, she's gotten nicer early on.

Even after that, I find it hard to actually like her. Her apology seemed shallow. At least Rinko understood her, but should she get off that lightly? She did what her bullies did TO her, after all.

Liking this in my top ten we will see if it follows the fate of the original series. Will they deal with teen angst or female angst or both!

So her redemption was that she apologized... now I wish we could trade Azu for Rinko and have her be part of the main group instead, I liked the fact that Yuina didn't berate Azu, she knows she is not her mom and it is not her problem that Azu is a shitty person, next episode is going to show what's the deal with Mai, another character I'm not a fan of.

For me this episode was a lesser version of what it could have been.
There are hints that they were planning to make a stronger statement on bullying and the importance of believing in yourself.
But I'm guessing that at some point it was deemed too risky to go the whole way for a TV series and the episode was toned down.
My main reasoning for this is that the first half of the episode mostly has a serious tone (at least more serious than the first two), except for a few islands of lighter tone, and the part after the performance only skirts around the subject, without giving a satisfying solution.
I might be overthinking this, but it doesn't feel right to me... like something is missing.
Even as is the episode is not bad, I just can't help being disappointed at the missed potential...

I don't like how they handled Azu at all, as I actually have started to like her... hopefully we'll see her warm up more to the other girls as well as Yuina, but this series isn't feeling very good so far. Kinda soulless..

Granted we are only 3 episodes in, and hopefully the way they clumsily handled Azu will NOT be a precursor to how they will write the rest of this....

I think Azu would have been fine if she was at the level of this episode from the start. Her aggressive hostility was way too harsh the first two episodes and this one still didn't explain why she was so aggressive to the other witches. Sure she was bullied and made fun of by students, but these were completely different people who she was supposed to work with and had no problems with except one was too cheerful. And assuming the customer's wish and then insulting her still feels way too out of nowhere.

We finally got Azu's character arc, even if it wasn't much of an arc, lol..^^'3 Curious to see how the team will develop from now on, now that it seems like they've unified as a team. I wonder what Mai was doing at the end with the points thing..

@Yui_Suzumiya69 I think you're misunderstanding something. The author of BTR is Hamaji Aki, and they have nothing to do with this anime. Yoshida Erika worked on the anime of BTR, but only adapting the manga into anime format.

I understand a little bit of yuri was added, even though it's a minor character, Rinko. Although Azu's arc isn't finished, but for now there will probably be a story about Mai's gambling addiction and the dark side of each character. Although the frog is the one I'm most worried about.

this episode made me tear up, i was so happy to see azu smile and actually enjoy herself 🥹 also rinko has a gf!!! that was such a subtle detail but still so cute. if i did have to complain it would be the sudden tonal shift from yuina being serious and preparing to confront azu vs going back to her usual happy go lucky self. i get why yuina responded the way she did but i cant help but imagine that there was a different way this ep was originally gonna go, but nonetheless it was good! super excited to see what mai is up to next episode :D

Not dropping the show but man they could've handled Azu so much better....when only one or two characters are likeable/enjoyable to watch you know a show has fucked up.

edit: I've thought about it and despite not liking most of the characters this is probably the most complicated cast I've seen in a while. I'm not sure if I link this show but I think it's very well written.

So if im being honest I was expecting Azu to get some form of redemption eventually but after episode 2 I wasn't sure if I'd be able to like her but honestly I changed my mind completely I actually love her.

In a single episode they managed to give her more depth than any of the characters in this anime. Unironically right now Azu is carrying this show. Even before episode 3 she was carrying the show as a "villain type" but I love her now

The only thing is I wish she done that song and dance alone to the women instead of everyone randomly spawning in and joining her, but Im pretty sure it takes too much energy alone.

Best episode so far, the first 2 were a little stale but this one was great.

Very surprised by the message around Rinko to be not to lose weight but to instead maintain her own integrity. Saddened that it didn't change anything for Azu, though. I'm hopeful that she might come around to being herself later on in the show, though. Curious about the next episode, with that after-credits bit.

Rinko looked so good in that outfit daaamn woman yessss
I did tear up a little seeing her come to her realization/rediscovery of her dream/wish. Though that pig outfit was cute, definitely keep your pride if you feel it's a job that's laughing at you. That's something we've had to juggle with for like ever in Hollywood. Do we want demeaning jobs that still pay in an industy where you usually don't know where your next check is coming from, or do we stop taking roles that make it easier for others to look down on us or perpetuate stereotypes?

Azu... I think they pushed Azu's character too far to the point where it's really hard for her to be redeemable. That's a shame. She's beyond like a typical "tsundere" type too, she's just straight up... mean. At least we can guess why she wanted to work alone-- probably so she doesn't have to be transformed the whole time. I want to say I think the other characters are responding kinda okay to Azu. By that I mean if this were real life then I at least appreciate that the characters are speaking up against her or actually not really wanting to be in her company if she's kinda just a dick. Everyone went out to pass out flyers except her, and I have a feeling that it's because she's just not great to be around at this point in her life. She's just a teen though, so she has a lot of time to grow. I knew girls like her while growing up too, so I know they exist. I just hope she grows.

My favorite so far is Kyouka though. I already have a feeling there's gonna be some drama there though, ha hah.;;

Three episodes in and despite growling "aaaggh stooop" at the screen whenever Azu talks, I actually really like this anime so far. There are things I'll have to see how they continue, but overall I actually am interested and invested in what will happen. Let's keep it rolling!

Enjoy your anime! | Witch Cafe Wisteria

Cheap solution, stupid drama... Mean-bashing bitches. Rinko is the MVP though.

Yuina's too stupidly kind too... Yup, this too much for me.

So, how Azu came into the witch spectrum being a fatso herself, only for Keroppe to instill magic within her to remain her figure, that's all she's hoping for.

At the very least, Rinko getting her flower bouquet, while secretly loathing the plus-sized self she has grown to be. But whatever the case, Yuina being her eager self to send out flyers once again with the rest of the girls, that leaves Azu in charge of the spectrum to fend for anyone coming into their space.

But to expect Rinko coming back to the same place reckoning that Azu is pretty much like her to tell her off that being plus-sized is also OK. The two having semblance for each other, ignites the magic putting Azu as the center to finally put her assumptions to rest. And to have her dress up Yuina, the latter thinking that she can get all chummy-like with the former, she's just quite the happy-go-lucky character. But yet, with the points they earned in the first 2 days of their service, relying less on Keroppe accounts one part of it.

Nah, Azu's just unhinged in the worst possible way.

If I'm being completely unbiased, this is a good show and this was a great episode. Since I am somewhat biased against this just sort of out of fear that moral lecturing could become the norm like it did in the west, I feel compelled to dislike this show. You can tell who in these comments has consumed to much lecture media from the west, because they think that even this wasn't good enough for Azu despite the fact that she basically bent over backwards in all honesty on her original statement. It starts off fine at first but then becomes overwhelming, and intolerant of people who don't conform.
Honestly Yuina was right, that people who are bad towards bad people are just as bad. It's really just an excuse for "good" people to be bad. Oh look the person who did something bad is here. Now I can say 20 mean things at this punching back and derive all the same cruel pleasure they derived from it, but since I'm doing it to someone I deemed as bad its alright and nobody will judge me for partaking in this cruel vicious thrill I'm acquiring from it! These are the sort of people that hate Azu even after this episode and I always find it quite funny. The dishonesty is insane.
Anyways good episode because its daring in Japan and while I think the moral lecturing was a little too heavy handed for my taste it still put entertainment first at the end of the day. I just hope that this never devolves into whatever the hell modern western media is.
