The collaboration of anime with the Japanese Red Cross caused debates due to a poster with Takao

Recently, the author of the original LN was forced to openly oppose people who called for the boycott of the collaboration of anime and blood drive campaign by the Japanese Red Cross due to the fact that the its advertising poster with Takao as a nurse was drawn "in the moe style". In particular, to confirm that he is a practicing doctor in real life and that the poster is purely advertising and Takao is not a nurse in story. What do you think about it? Do you agree with the author that the image is harmless and will only attract people to donate blood more? Or do you agree with critics who believe that the poster is inappropriate?

I think this post should include the poster in question. How can we respond without seeing the thing we are asked to comment on?

How tf is a "moe" drawing of a doctor dressed as a nurse inappropriate. I also dont think it would attract people to donate blood. its just a sponsor dawg not that serious. That guy is fcking analyzing every detail like he works in a hospital or some shit. people really does have some free time to spend on X squeaking like monkeys.

Also the drawing of Sung Jin-woo's sister dressed as a nurse would have attracted more people to donate blood. Just saying

Those People seem to hate it when people donate blood or something? We had exact same drama when Uzaki was advertising blood drive.
I fkin love it how those people display their top left Dunning Krueger effect and act as if they were experts in the field they know nothing of.

And Takao being a nurse here is a serious plot hole. Definitely ruins enjoyment of the series.

I mean, doctors aren't really involved in blood donations. He could have used a nurse character, or he is trying to use his MC character to attract people to it.
It is not like other popular characters don't do cosplay.

Maybe the post was edited since you posted, but there’s a hyperlink to the picture in the OP.

The complaint about her unprofessionalism as a medical staff is… weird? There’s a lot of medical drama that is inaccurate and wouldn’t fly in a doctor’s office. Sure, this is a blood donation site, but I think this is one of those common sense things.

Idk how the general populace of Japan or the demographic listed here of “goes to blood drives” feels about moe style. I could be persuaded if there’s a case to make that people feel uncomfortable around it, so I don’t think I’m informed enough to have an opinion on the moe criticism.

@BrettWatchesTV As far as I know, most people are neutral and accustomed to this for a long time, but Japanese feminists hate it very much and regularly come into conflict with otaku due to collaborations and advertising. For example, a couple of years ago they forced the Tokyo metro to turn the collaboration with Love Live or distributed rumors that the author of Yu-Gi-Oh has falsified his death or committed suicide due to the disgust for otakus.

Seems like a silly complaint, it’s an anime, not real life, and it is trying to get people to donate blood, nothing wrong with that.
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

In one of the episodes takao literally dressed up as an highschooler or maybe a middleschooler and somehow her dressing up as a nurse is a moe complaint, come on...

@lasodamos I think that I get what you want to say, but in general it is a common complaint about moe art in Japan. For example, when the feminists achieved the cancellation of the collaboration with LL in the case I mentioned above, they also complained about this in the design of the girls.

As if the Japan Red Cross never collaborated with anime before.

These three didn't even know anything about the medicine. Yet no one really cared about them. These kinds of images were just for advertisement and promotion only. Or did you expect to see either Takao or Anna at the blood donation office? lmao

And that's just only the opinion of one user on the internet. He's irrelevant. You shouldn't think as if everyone in Japan thinks like this or brings it up like it has a major impact on the industry. It just came from only one person.

@AkeZZZ Jokes aside, they really had such an illustration in one of the collaborations. With Girls und Panzer.

If it encourages people to donate blood, there's nothing wrong with it.

I'm guessing the original commenter is over the moon right now for getting 3.3 million views. They'll probably be excited to know that they're on MAL forums, too.

As for the poster itself, yeah, it's a little stupid.

But "stupid" and "inappropriate" aren't the same thing. Not even close. But they are on Twitter, apparently.
