I don’t know why it was necessary for the producers to take this long break, but I understand that everyone has its own problems.

The episode was interesting, exploring the personalities of Yaegashi and Hajime, fighting with them. That was a method of showing their power in order to defeat them.

It surprised me completely, they focused on the hero's strength and experience, and not on solving the test. Plus, the culmination of the tomboy Shizuku's story, which already began in previous episodes. They created a great sense of rejection and loneliness. Both fights are nicely animated, the look of the opponents in this episode is heavenly, I love the white hair.

A great episode. The contrast in how Hajime and Shizuku deals with their doppelgangers was nice. The show does very good in portraying Hajime was a totally a changed person after his accident very well. His edgelord and no bs attitude is him and not just a mask he put due to trauma, probably got it due to that harrowing trauma in the first place though.
I cannot bring myself to rate anime that I have completed below 5. Well, it just because I have use up my precious time to watch it. so, the worse you will get from me is 5 (changes may apply)

This was fucking terrible.

The animation keeps getting worse, the plot is beyond generic at this point. The writer is busy sucking himself off at some loli cafe in Japan hugging that annoying Yue's plushie, while his script suffers.

I went from having Arifureta (season 1) being my "guilty pleasure" Isekai to "I fucking hate this trash". Protagonist seems to be the biggest turd, with no real reason to do what he's doing, no answers to what he plans to do but just make shit up (that's what it all sounds like). His only real challenge before was, he was a weak pussy. He overcame that in first season, in like 2 episodes. After that he has nothing that can stand up to him seriously or defeat him or his stupid harem (and no, "pretend" defeats mean nothing, there's no real loss or defeat).

It seems to be the theme with these Isekai, like Shield Hero. The writers come up with an idea for an isekai, only for season 1. When it becomes a surprise hit, they scramble to make a new season, but they blew their entire load in the first and had no idea where the series would go or how it'll progress. This season will get 1/10 from me at this rate.

Yaegashi, Shizuku ... going by her character in the series up to these last few episodes, she was the strong brave female character, that fought to protect others especially her friends, so this crying damsel in distress type of act, really is from out of nowhere and not fitting her character from other seasons.

I know the labyrinth is really trying to mess with her emotionally and mentally, but why she would just listen is odd to me. Shizuku always seemed observant and able to read others or the situation pretty well, then adjust to reapond, so why is would she so oblivious with herself. Yes, she is suppressing certain thoughts and feelings, that much was obvious, but her breaking down like a little girl and crying "help me", that was really quite odd for her.

In all honesty, that is how I would think Kaori would act in the past, not Shizuku, I think she would keep fighting till she lost her strength, but her will would still be there.

Yeah she thought she was going to die in that fight with a demon, but she had put up a better fight than anyone else did, and she looked like a badass, giving it her best and then accepting that she was just not strong enough, she did't give up though. So when Nagumo saved her and the others it was not from being weak in character, she showed strong character and even being more mature about things than Kouki, who was mad at Nagumo for killing the demon.

When her friend Kaori died, she was not weak in character and she trusted Nagumo, because he'd already proved himself to her before, so she had no reason to doubt, but she also wanted him to keep his promise to bring her back, plus she was understandably concerned for her friend and her dying.

I would like to hear other's perspectives, to see if maybe I missed something or was jut reading into the charter of Shizuku.
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

agree to disagree about Nagumo but how anyone can like the "hero" is beyond me...
@ZoltanChivai I can't understand why people hate Nagumo, he is one of my favorite Male MCs in anime, because he acts nothing like the nervous shy weak inexperienced "can't handle women" male MCs in so many other anime. Nagumo is the "I don't give a **** and I am going to destroy anyone in my way", but he is not foolhardy, he is intelligent, and he also cares about those that matter to him.

The "hero" is a just "pretty boy" that got attention, but he is really just a serious mess of immaturity, naivety, ignorance, obliviousness, jealousy, rage, etc etc, why people would like him I have no idea.

Where did the hole that Nagumo came out of come from? Shizuku had just been laying against the wall she got kicked into just a second ago, you telling me Nagumo is bypassing the labyrinth by breaking the walls in total silence?

Really hope what's left of the season isn't this over and over again.
We might get a better explanation in the next episode, but I don't think he broke the wall, he walled through the door.
( I don't read the written material )

Did you notice what the test was about?

*To face ones' own self*

If we look at it from the perspective of the anime, Shizuku finally threw off her "brave act" to finally be her real self that she was hiding inside, "the female damsel in distress that wants to be saved from death by a brave male protagonist", so in other words, she passed the test.

Did you read or hear ( I watched SUB & DUB ) what Nagumo said ?

SUB = "Good grief ... talk about good timing ... this isn't what the great labyrinth aims."

DUB = "Seriously ... talk about dramatic timing ... don't tell me the Labyrinth planned this to happen?"

Taking into account both, it seems that when Nagamo walked through the door, he was able to walk to wear Shizuku was to save her, finishing her trial.

@Rurihime On one hand, I would rather not open that can of worms, but on the other hand, I would also like to have an open mind, so I will peak inside, plus, I have been wanting to hear someone's explanation of why people dislike Nagumo so much.

I'll start off by saying...

I think Nagumo is one of best Male MCs in all of anime and that he is the most intelligent person in this anime, so basically the complete opposite of your comment. Nagumo is not the wimpy weak unconfident naive ignorant immature inexperienced "can't handle being around women" MC that is in so many anime. Nagumo's character is the "I don't give a **** and I am going to destroy anyone in my way", but he is not foolhardy, he is intelligent clever brave, and he also cares about those that matter to him, especially the females that he loves.

The "hero" is a just "a pretty boy" that got attention from the girls, but he is really just a serious mess of immaturity, naivety, ignorance, obliviousness, jealousy, rage, hate, self-centeredness, etc etc. I did not want Shizuku to end up with him at all.

And now ... if you are willing to share, I would like to hear your perspective and explanation of why you like the "hero" and not Nagumo?

If you don't respond, I will also respect this decision too.

Shizuku finally admits it. I don't like how they showed her a damsel in distress, she should have stayed strong. I mean I get it that was the point that she looked strong but was actually fragile but sheesh that's super old cliche. Anyway darkskin white hair Shizuku actually looks good. I prefer her regular version more though. Nagumo actually looks cooler the other way.

The near-month break to finally come back to Arifureta and complete the remainder of Season 3, it's just the same as it's always been.

Schnee's great labyrinth to overcome oneself, Hajime is now facing what both Shizuku and Kuki has been amassing for their time of suffering, and being led astray by the alter egos of oneself to see their ugly selves, it's not hard for Hajime to see his horrific and rejected past come to light again, but it's more that he embraced the test to get better than who he was before.

Back to Shizuku, and just like Hajime, she was facing her alter ego self, but just like Kouki, the mentality affected did subject her to the criticism since she came into the fantasy world, with the life-and-death choices that she had to make on the fly whilst believing her intentions would be right, which turned out otherwise once the reality sets in. And just like before, Shizuku has to have Hajime save her once again, just like on the Great Orcus Labyrinth.

Shizuku's just a broken girl at this point...

Shizuku should have just died this episode instead of locking herself in as the newest member of Nagumo's pathetic harem brigade. Would have provided this series some much needed stakes.

Also the Kouki hate in this thread is rather stupid. Kouki's character diverts itself from the prototypical a--hole "Hero" character that frequently appears in these generic Isekai revenge plots. Kouki genuinely wants to get stronger and willingly takes on the role of "Hero" to protect people. He doesn't see eye-to-eye with Nagumo because Nagumo is a self serving prick, who I guess gets a pass to be one for the rest of his life because he experiences trauma at the start of the series. He doesn't outright fight Nagumo or even scheme against him. He follows him through these trials to acquire strength so he too can protect those around him. For his efforts the author decides to constantly drag him through the mud as being some form of poor foil for Nagumo. Nagumo is edgy and selectively sees things as a realist that shouldn't be moved by the plights of others. Kouki on the other sees the wrong doings around him and expresses his displeasure even if he ultimately can't do anything about it. This portrayal leaves him as being the naive loser who just doesn't have it figured out like our great and powerful Nagumo who can do no wrong.

I don't know it's almost like Kouki is an actual teenager who has been sent to another world without his consent. Desperately processing his new environment and role--- not some one eyed robotic killing machine. (Who somehow has perfect aim dual wielding pistols while having impaired depth perception.)

Hajime proved that even he himself can't defeat him.

I can't find any sympathy for Shizuku, she's just not worth it. Her characters so boring and probably she'll start fighting with other girls for Hajime's harem as well. This season is focused more on building harem than returning back o earth.
