Why would Jump even serialize a manga that’s only intended to be 2-3 volumes from the start? Isn’t it their main goal to create well performing long running series? What could they possibly gain from such a short series by an unknown author?
| @GoCrayzee I dunno, but I would guess some authors aren't comfortable writing long running series, eg. Taizan 5's Takopii (2-vol/16ch.) is much more popular than Ichinose Family (which was axed after 6 volumes). Also maybe to "train" and keep young artist in case they will make something really popular? And overall I think there is less risk and help with "series circulation" on their app jump+ if they know when some series will end... like WSJ has only long running series (or axes) which "force them" to decide which series will end prematurely every ~10 weeks, which could negatively affect the story and their relations with author. |
