I get what you’re saying, I don’t think he’s the worst ever but he’s definitely mad annoying. But at the end of the day, the whole misunderstanding of his actual strength, intelligence, and character seems to me the shtick of the whole show. If you don’t find it amusing then I can see why you’d dislike this anime as a whole.

If it weren't for the flashbacks showing Krai trying hard to get out of the team and the adventurer business only to be taken along against his will, I would probably have trouble liking him too, thinking he takes advantage of his position and the people below him in the hierarchy, but I think the story does enough to show him in a sympathetic light. Things are just irrational around him.

Overall, I have a problem with the trope of the protagonist with misjudged strength, and yet, I'm enjoying this anime precisely because Krai is fully aware of his state. He's admittedly weak and cowardly, but it's not like he can do anything to change himself other than using the artifacts. I've gotten really annoyed with strong protagonists who pretend or think they're weak like Cid from "Eminence in Shadow" and Noor from "I Will Parry Everything" respectively, but stories with weak protagonists who are considered strong fare better in the trope.

Yes, it’s a comedy. But what did you expect? That he’d be super OP and solve every problem easily? That he’d be super altruistic and naive? That would basically take away all the elements that make this show different from similar ones.

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

Even if both characters were on the same level in terms of power and reliability, cid would still be on a completely different level compared to krai.
Cid and his antics/behaviour are actually funny ( well, most of the time) unlike krai. He is also pretty entertaining to watch and therefore likable, krai on the other hand, is just annoying.

This series here is also supposed to be more "serious" than eminence of shadows, a series that obviously doesnt take itself too serious.
