These two shows are some of the most anticipated anime of this season. It's a pity to see them end up like the way they did. Both shows had ample time to polish and fine tune their respective projects—especially Uzumaki. Hard to believe the studio doing Uzumaki flopped the whole project despite having several years to do the job right. Well, whaddya know.

Kinda makes me anxious for the recently announced S2 of Frieren. I know it's Madhouse again, but seeing 8bit flopping big time after a successful first season—you just never know, man.

8bit worked on Tensura S3 and Laid Back Camp 3 plus Irregular At Magic High School s3 earlier this year so maybe they're spent and stationed? idk, but I just hope they're saving budget for the U20 match.
Not gonna get my hopes up but who knows...

Well, episode 3 came out yesterday. The practice match should be over in the next 2 or 3 episodes I think? The rest will be for the main event. So 8 probably.

people forget anime has small budgets so if the anime gets delayed for years it means that small budget will get wasted very fast until they cheap out on the production more or they beg for more budget from the production committee that is most likely gonna be declined

anime fans got this delusion that longer production time means better quality when in usual cases that is wrong

@NegativeRei im talking about uzumaki there

as for blue lock you got to remember that anime sequels usually have lower quality due to change on main staff and usually weaker main staff like what happened here and other popular anime like mushoku tensei, one punch man, and even attack on titan and no the studio does no matter much as long as the staff is talented

also blue lock has 2 anime release this year the nagi movie and this season so if they have the same staff then sorry the production schedule or production time will be horrible

@deg Doesn't happen to every show out there with longer production time.

NO ROOM FOR EXCUSES.

@aurora_yuuki it happens a lot another example is pluto look at how a lot of animators of it complain their work becomes butchered too and replace by computer special effects more despite the long production time

mismanagement is so common in the anime industry

oh, sorry then.

Yes, I'm aware that the quality of an anime depends on the staff.

@deg Well like game development, it depends on the scope of the work. There is a goldilocks zone of media development, you dont want to rush it to have an unfinished product, nor do you want to drag it so that it will needlessly suck up funding. Im sure if most of us cared enough to follow the development of Uzumaki we would have see the trainwreck coming, but also most development information was withheld from us until the episodes were airing. They probably did it due to general Japanese company culture, as well as wanting more people to actually watch the show and get some return out of the whole thing.
