I cant write a review because apparently I need to watch 3 episodes first so I'll just write it here instead;
I made it 2 mins into episode 2 to check the artstyle and it was truly the worst anime I have ever had the displeasure of watching so I'll be dropping the show because everything about it is awful. I liked season 1 but every aspect of this 2nd series is much much worse - especially the new artstyle, whoever decided it was acceptable to air a sequel that looks this bad should be fired.

It's a shame that there have been several sequels this year and most of them have been dreadful compared to previous seasons. This one was so bad it made me write a post here for the first time since I joined this website 9 years ago.

Honestly the only design change I find truly off putting is yuu kirino's. For the rest, I still don't like the different design, but I can at least deal with it.

yea the art style, character voices, character vibes and even the general inconsistency between season 1 and 2 (even with mob characters like the satanist) shell shocked me.

I hope this is just a massive troll they did to make publicity but, if push comes to shove, I will endure it and adapt

That was indeed done for publicity, but that's not a troll.

The 1st Season promote the Light Novel, whereas this one promote the Manga. They are both adapting a different source material, with the Manga changing a few details of the story, and having a different Artist.

You are not supposed to just watch the Anime and make the connection between the 2 Seasons; this Season is not a direct continuation to the 1st, but the continuation in an alternative universe, kinda. So you are intended to checkout the source materials.

I'm just enjoying it, always watch anime stoned as hell so I'm almost always having fun when it's shows like these that I just turn off my brain
When something takes itself serious I can't have that much fun tho(when I was watching midmidtsu kaisen for example)

I still hate EVERYTHING about this season. The main mc looks absolutely awful, and I literally cant tell who's who in this show, and since its season 2 we don't get introductions... to characters who look completely different to season 1....

They need to change the title, THIS IS NOT A SEASON 2!

And in no way did they even try to make that clear to the viewer...

Genuinely hate this anime at the moment.

Wish this product never existed cause mark my words.

tbf, im surprised that we got another season to begin with..
Like the visual quality of the first season was already pretty bad, while the story and world had some issues already (i still enjoyed it tho)

I still have no idea why and how it got a second season, but the choice of giving it to a different studio since, the one that did the first season doesnt seem to be around for much longer with their track record... which we can feel in how an already not good looking anime looks worse now.

Someone up there had to make this bad choice

It was, which is why it's titled "R", and credit the Manga everywhere ("R" being the special subtitle used to for the Manga (https://myanimelist.net/manga/131092/Maou-sama_Retry_R)). The titled never indicated it to be a 2nd Season, which is even why people thought it was a Remake at first. And it still can be considered as a 2nd Season, as it's part of the same franchise. Not every Seasons have to be a directly connected.

That's just somewhat of a poor marketing.

I was thrown off by the first episode a little. It was interesting to see stuff from before, but the animation is not the same at all. I feel like I am watching a kids cartoon instead of a good anime. I hope the story continues to improve.
