If My Wife Becomes an Elementary School Student - anyone reading this title can quickly assume that it's gonna be a man marrying/dating a minor, which is not what the story is about.

What if there is a different title? I think of "That Time When My Wife Died and Somehow Respawned/Reincarnated As a 10-Year-Old Kid". What do you guys think?

Maybe you guys can also suggest an alternative anime title down in the comments!

They should just rename it into something completely unrecognizable, but still holds meaning when you do watch it.

Like "Usagi Drop," for example. Terrible example to bring up, I know, but it's a non-descriptive, vaguely wholesome title; I don't think it has any significance in the story, though.

Or something like "March Comes In Like a Lion" or "Kimi ni Todoke." Not all titles have to be so explicitly descriptive like fantasy light-novels.

honestly its a product of Japan, they can name it whatever they want, its marketed to the Japanese population, it just happens western countries also like Anime, they should not have to adapt themselves to us, reading the description perfectly explains what the series is about so there should not be any confusion.
Asking to change the name is a slippery slope, first name change then what? DEI? , Representation of different genders? Censorship??

I say no, let the Japanese make their Anime/Manga in peace.

The title should stay as it is, because it's a perfect litmus test.

I mean you should not judge a book by it's cover... you shouldn't judge what an anime is going to be like solely based on it's title without even checking it's summary.
secondly, the title isn't even that misleading it is "If my wife becomes an elementary school student" not " if an elementary school student becomes my wife". the latter sounds more like the man married an elementary school student while the first one sounds like she became his wife first then she became an elementary school student, which is exactly the case in this one.

so no there really is no need for changing the title.

@sohma_kyo i 100% agree with you here, ngl i think a lot of people from the west (especially) quickly assume that it's gonna be bad if anything related to "below 18" stuff like elementary school student for instance.

btw W name 👍

I know a lot of anime ‘fans’ who haven’t watched ‘Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai’ because they can’t see past the title. Honestly, they don’t deserve it. I’m ok with 2 minute attention span people incapable of a little research not being included, it’s natural selection for entertainment.

Ikr people shouldn't jump to conclusions without even trying to find out what it is about.

@chamba11 Sorry I didn't make myself clear. I'm not saying they should change the title because it's "wrong," I'm just saying that I think it's a pretty lame title, personally. It just feels like cheap click-bait. You have to admit that it was at least a little bit intentional, to make people go "wait, what" and do a double-take, Japanese or otherwise. But I understand that you gotta do what you gotta do to sell your manga.

Note that I haven't said anything about Japan vs. the West. I do think it would've been in their own best interest to consider an English title that's not a direct translation. Different people interpret things differently. All international businesses think about this all the time. They change product names, logos, color schemes, mascots, marketing strategies, etc. to maximize profit in different markets.

If they want to keep the title and bet on the anime to speak for itself, that's their call. But they actually didn't, because they obviously saw the huge headache incoming and just named it "TsumaSho." Which is also a terrible English title, in my opinion.

If you reply back to me and I never respond, I lost interest and don't care. Sorry about that.

You do realize the US doesn’t make anime or manga?

We obtain it from a country with different rules and views. Didn’t know that? Well, should’ve done your research. Now, you have to get clowned or corrected until people forget about this post probably by the end of the day because it’s not even good bait ya troll lol

Probably because I misread what you were talking about T-T

There were two threads before yours that weren’t very kind toward this series so my brain must’ve been wired to attack when there was nothing wrong being said here…or something like that; my bad.
