edit: the linked source mistakenly explained the Studio Eclypse anime being cancelled, when it was Studio Taka's motion comic/animated manga.
as such, the thread title is inaccurate.

below is taka's statement, which you can read on their YouTube community tab if you don't want to support Elon Musk's Twitter:

"As some of you may know, Studio Gaga, the rights holders of Berserk recently took a public stance regarding the release of Berserk content without proper authorization. Naturally, this has implications for all Berserk fan projects, including ours," Studio Taka shared in a new statement.

"After thoughtful consideration and exploring all possible options, we have made the very difficult decision to bring this project to a close. While we are extremely passionate about continuing the project, we recognize the potential legal risks involved and feel that it's important to respect the intellectual property rights of Studio Gaga [and] Hakusensha."

They were making profits off of a series they didn’t license. It’s either cancel it or face criminal charges.

@Seiidou exactly they should have made a contract with the publishers if they want to profit from this

This thread is misleading, @deg. The news refers to Studio Taka shutting down, not Studio Eclypse. People from Studio Taka were working on a fanmade motion comic covering the Black Swordsman arc.

About their work, it was a very solid project. Marvelously done. But it can't be helped. Copyright law is copyright law. And they used panels from the manga without any permission from the rights holders.

Edit: Ayy, I pinged the wrong person. Sorry. For more information, check out my second post posted in this thread (link: https://myanimelist.net/forum/?goto=post&topicid=2179615&id=71699615).

This is Studio Taka’s project being cancelled just to be safe. Studio Eclipse hasn’t said anything on it yet (even though they were the ones to start this mess)

on the thread being misleading: I was going by the source I linked.
They referred to it as the anime, not the motion comic/animated manga, linking to the Studio Eclipse anime trailer. Since I can't look at Twitter, I went by what they reported. I've edit the top post to clarify.

worry not, I'm sure the thread title will be accurate soon enough. if a transformative motion comic is under threat, you can be damn sure a fan-made anime will be, too.

The idea that Studio Taka was "profiting" from this is project... well, I expect that misguided mentality in a capitalist society, but when fans do something like this, it's not to profit, but to make the work possible at all. profit is what major companies do by skimming more from the labor of their employees than they give back. I'm sure the Berserk manga barely makes money; a fan project accepting contributions is just to keep the lights on.

hearing it's the motion comic being cancelled is disappointing. I don't have much respect for rights holders when fans can do what studio taka did, but as an officially licensed product, we get Berserk 2016. They should be hiring Taka, not threatening them.

Instead, Miuira's work will likely flounder in obscurity as people with no funding voice and put audio to the manga, and do things to make Berserk better and more accessible to more people.

at the rate Studio Taka was adapting the manga, what they were creating was essentially an advertisement for berserk, not a competing work.

If they didn't want to hire them, the smart thing to do would be to let them finish whatever they were working on to a meaningful end point, and let them publish it. Threatening beloved fan projects just makes fans bitter--fans who are desperate for anything berserk, to the point they'll take the bitter pill that is 2016 if they have to.

maybe we'll get "lucky" and they'll let Netflix adapt and cancel it after 1 season, and put the rights in Netflix jail, like The Witcher after they destroyed that. or maybe they'll give a well known studio like Production I.G. no budget to make generic anime schlock like Terminator Zero, that's somehow worse than the live action movies.

the "studioification" of berserk is not something I look forward to watching.

Sad news! But why did not they checked the legal measurements right before started making this project? It looks like Studio Gaga run into some problems and who knows, maybe someone hates them. Berserk is one of the best anime and their manga is listed as having over 9.00 score on MAL. In addition to this, “Berserk” manga was also the highest selling one.

@Adnash Oh damn, I pinged the wrong person. Instead of @deg, I of course wanted to ping the thread's creator, @Something_More. I sincerely apologize for perhaps causing unnecessary confusion, lol. I was in a hurry and I saw this thread in the Recent Posts section, and after a short while, when I was less in a hurry, I mistook the recent post (written by deg) as the original post. 😅

I'm not too surprised. I mean.. I have been creating animations about Transformers fights for some time now. And for me it is rather obvious that I would not have set up Patronite before uploading the first two episodes. Another thing is Studio Ellclips, which financed this series with patrons' money.
