I’m enjoying this new arc as well. I hope we continue to learn more about all of the characters in following arcs!

However, I’m having trouble understanding what the ultimate “message” is with Kanons character. Her story is heartbreaking and scary! But with their relationship, the message started out with how (tragically) a partners trauma can be hard to cope with in relationships. Especially for unprepared teenagers, both wounded in their own way. The way he obsessed, and felt scared leaving her alone, taking its toll. The codependency. Then it’s a bit glossed over for the stalker, which isn’t unrealistic for a former idol, just sudden. Slightly forced and rushed for the plot, but that’s just how manga works. Their friends do eventually bring this up again, in a way.

But the message in this arc so far isn’t as straightforward. Not that it’s ever black and white in real life, I just think I’m misunderstanding. Maybe it doesn’t even need a message to take away at the end! I guess I won’t fully know until this arc ends.

@fishy07 Yeah, it also caught me off-guard. As if Kanon's mother wasn't already toxic and abusive, she also had to do such thing with her own student. That act has surely left many scars on Yamato's psyche. Truly, she was a disgusting, evil woman.
