So apparently this is pretty muched a doomed project and each passing day it's looking more and more unlikely this anime is ever actually gonna end so should I just? drop it? or would it be worth it to keep waiting for the last episodes?

Read the manga, the anime just bad. They change some of the scenes which I'm still salty about and the animation is just pictures another picture no animation

If I was you, I'd just move it to my on hold list and wait for the last 2 episodes (if it doesn't end up being cancelled) because you've sat through the most of the majority of the pain and it's only an hour of your time.

When shows fall off for months at a time like this, it's not that they are still trapped in some kind of development hell. They are just waiting for an open slot on the Japanese TV schedule to air the (probably long completed) episodes, and they will not feed them to streaming services until they have had their broadcast debut. Admittedly this show is much less popular than the previous cases I can remember, but odds are while it may not be until Christmas or some shit, the show will get finished eventually, it's just a quirk of media culture/regulations.
