How important is it to have read Angelic layer before?

Well, the title said it. I know that Angelic layer plays before Chobits, but I wonder if it is absolutely necessary to it or if I can just read it after.

I’ve never read Angelic Layer and had no issues with Chobits. If the series are connected it’s only very, very loosely.

Knowing Angelic layer before reading is least important. The whole connection is meantoned in just one chapter. If you have read it then you can better know what they're referring to but it's more a nod than some crucial knolige. Still if you like Clamp I'll say Angelic layer is a fine read.

I got Angelic Layer out of my library a year ago before reading chobits. I didn’t really find I needed to read it before chobits after completing it. I enjoyed the art, but the battle scenes can be tedious after a while. It’s a cute little series & if you don’t mind endless battles between different robots then it’s your cup of tea :)
