I am still currently watching the second season so apologies if i have yet to see something that answers my question but looking at the light novels the off season and monster season seem to be separate so how come they have been put together for the anime adaptation? and also if its only 14 episodes that would seem to be enough to only cover the off season so wouldn't it make more sense to call this the off season if the episodes of this show will only cover the off season? Thanks :)

I think they'll adapt some bits of off season and some bits of monster season. Monogatari air order has been usually different from novel order. If I have to guess, the remaining bits they'll either adapt in part 2 of season or in movies? Because Aniplex is greedy.

they're gonna adapt both of them in one go that's why they mixed both the titles, mostly every season was adapted individually but Off season is relatively small so they just joined together

It's going to cover both, hence the title. If that 14 ep leak/rumor is true, then there has to be at least 2 cours.
If you reply back to me and I never respond, I lost interest and don't care. Sorry about that.

the expected order for the 14 episodes based on the content skipped so far and what content we KNOW they're planning to adapt based on PV's is 3 arcs from Off Season and 1 from Monster Season. Would prefer not to get into spoiler territory but it seems very likely based on the content so far that its accurate to say the rest of Off and Monster will come in a seperate cour or entry

Well, technically the kizu films and hana was delayed and koyomi aired through a calender app specially made for the anime

So far it hasn't been intentional afaik

This time however, the order reshuffling seems intentional so I will let them cook

I think the off & monster season is more of a reassurance that they'll eventually adapt both off and monster season
