Hi everyone, I finished the anime 2 days ago and what should I say, it was a rollercoaster of emotions.

Anyway, I have a question because there is something that I don't understand.

After I finished the anime, I did some research about it and saw that it has a Visual Novel that came out after the anime. I read that the Visual Novel has a different ending from the same author of the anime and that it’s canon.

Actually, I didn’t know what canon means. Is everything that the author says original considered canon and everything else, like fillers, not?

But if there are two endings from the same author, which is the real ending? I mean, both of the endings are obviously very different.

Or can the watcher just decide which ending to believe in because they are both the "real ending"?

Thanks in advance for your help ^^

Only watched the anime, have no idea about the VN or any other endings. Canon is basically any content that comes from the original author, so in this case both the ending of the anime and the VN would be canon. Canon aside, you can of course decide for yourself which ending is the real one for you, that's pretty much the reason why the VN has several different ends necause everyone has a different taste.

Honestly would just consider each ending as alternate endings

----SPOILERS----

In the VN, they introduce a new character, the Professor who made the Giftias. At the end of the VN, before Isla's memories get deleted, the professor says that she is trying to solve the memory problem of the Giftias so they won't be deleted. However, she also says that she doesn't know how long it will take. It could take months or even years. Because of that, they put Isla in cryosleep. Before she goes into cryosleep, both Isla and Tsukasa promise that they will wait for each other. Then we get a scene where Isla actually wakes up with her memories, but we don't know how many years have passed.

Here is a YouTube link where you can watch the ending of the VN; it's 3 minutes long.
