Ngl, I sort of dislike the way the show made both

barely a thing after a while. Don't get me wrong, given the period this was set in, I don't need an elaborate explanation as to why

, but just a LITTLE bit more explored on the way

would have been nice.

Same with the

. The guy's former underling / friend

.... but then... almost nothing is made of this pivotal plot point 'til the very end when

, and it feels like a borderline afterthought by then.

Yeah, I know this anime is ultimately about Hyakkimaru and HIS story and HIS journey, but in a way, I think Dororo's story arc and character twists could have been developed even better, even if

. Still really enjoyed this anime.

The show revolved a lot around the map on her back and there was no need to deeply explore her tomboyishness, I don't understand your disappointment.

Her gender is a plot device she’s only pretending to be a boy so she wouldn’t be assaulted on her travels or at least that’s what’s implied in the show

I don't think it would've been relevant to the show's plot, but Blue Eye Samurai has this kind of "Mulan trope" way more relevant to the plot and it's a great show if you want a recommendation.
