Any and all of Moemi's good points -- her elegance, her feminine grace, her gentle and kind nature (I remember how much it hurt my heart when she was so kind to her almost-rapists on that day of the storm before she was attacked... she was so sweet!) -- everything wonderful about Moemi has been totally eroded by her viscous jealousy of Ai.

If Yota loved Moemi before, then, well... that romantic and giddy feeling of "love" would have been totally shattered upon seeing Moemi in such a sad, maniacal state.
(At least, this is my interpretation. I'm not sure how Yota is going to feel, though).

Even so, Ai is still so pure of heart, and she continues to see the best in people. And she comes out and says it: she loves Yota... and she loves Moemi!

I have to hand it to Moemi, though: she sees right through Ai's good girl "act". Although it's not totally an "act" (hence the quotes); it is still true that Ai is indeed downplaying her love for Yota -- her romantic love -- in order to sweet-talk Moemi into calming down.
For Ai to say "I love Yota and Moemi" is disingenuous on her part. Still, I don't believe that Ai meant for it to be that way; she was being as honest as her feelings would allow for her. But deep down, Ai loves Yota as a woman loves a man; it's different than platonic love between friends. She desires Yota on a deeper level, and wants to hold him and be held by him. For Moemi, she believes that, in order to be Ai, you to wear boy's clothes; but the real Ai also loves wearing girl's clothes: cute skirts and polka-dotted panties. And this is all for Yota, all for the man she loves.
Indeed, Moemi understands that Ai doesn't love her in the same way she loves Yota, even if Ai's endearing girly side is totally lost on Moemi, Moemi still understands Ai in this crucial way. But she also understands Ai was being truthful when she said "I love you too Moemi." Ai is a great person. And she wants all those that she loves to create happy memories together. Hence, why Moemi can't bring herself to fully hate Ai.

(Again, though, all of this is just my interpretation. I could be forced to eat my words in upcoming chapters; maybe it will be revealed that Ai actually doesn't love Yota?! Maybe it will be said that Ai hates wearing girly clothes?* Well, I sure hope not, but who knows.)

Anyhow, unless something compels me to make another thread (which is entirely possible), then I'm gonna lay off on the thread making for now and focus on reading.

Please let this manga have a great ending!!

@gtetrakai I'm shocked that there's someone who cares for my Video Girl Ai posts, but I'm happy! I can't help but type out my opinions sometimes, especially for things I'm passionate about. It's been a long time coming for me to read this manga -- the anime has long been one of my favorites -- and it's turned out to be even more a wild ride than I imagined. I'll definitely be making at least one more post about the ending!

@HeroicIdeal You have no idea. Video Girl is my all time favorite manga. It's the story that got me into manga and anime. I got the original SJ on the wall from it's first serialized color chapter and Ai has been my lockscreen pic for years. Finding someone else is interested in this story all these years later is exciting to hear to say the least.
