Criminally underrated

I'm actually baffled by how low the rating of this anime is. Like it's a love letter to Love Hina, Maison ikkoku kind of shows and with the artstyle it really stands out. There's barely any fanservice which many people hate in animes so the low ratings and low number of people following it is kinda shocking. I'm genuinely enjoying this. Anyone else thinks it's kinda underrated and unpopular ?

I’m absolutely obsessed with the artist behind the character designs, Eisaku. I even have his art-book. I genuinely don’t know why more people don’t watch it. It’s not only my favourite anime of the season, but definitely one I will rewatch. All of the characters are so loveable, and the plot is extremely entertaining. I also appreciate how much of a safe space Astro Lodge is, especially in episode 5 when we get commentary on gender. The romance is also extremely cute without relying on too many tropes. Yes, it’s a romance, but the show is not limited by that at all. If you haven’t watched it but are thinking about it, please give the first few episodes a chance.

I agree with your point on fan service as someone who cannot stand the needless s*xualisation of women and young girls in anime. I like that there’s no clear gendered demographic either. It’s not a romance for guys or for girls, but for everyone and anyone; which makes sense when episode 5 of the anime also spoke about how anyone can wear a skirt regardless of gender. It’s really sweet.
