Oh so yeah pretty disappointingly we got a delayed maybe date answer. He obviously doesn't like her the same way but he's saving the answer for after he gets a clear read on the girl he actually likes. I feel like this situation is one where both girls/everyone gets hurt. He doesn't like his childhood friend like that and likes the MC girl and MC girl likes him but also doesn't want to ruin her friendship with Chiho so might not go out with him.

So it might just be a case of a group friends never going out of anyone. I don't think it's going that way though.
