Some strange holes appear in the area and from there a story of mystery, love and revenge is created!
The characters are interesting, from the 2 young underground map creators, to the crazy old man, the mysterious librarian or the super strong waiter...
...the shame was that the argument was somewhat weak!
And the music of sorrow, to forget!

it felt like it was just a middle of a story that was missed a proper beginning and end, the description also didn't really seem to fit like that girl doesn't really do anything apart from save the boy

I like the visual and music but other than that it was quite confusing. 12+ ep series would have been better because I think the concept and design of the whole city/town is really good just need proper explanation and time for the characters to develop.

My doctor has always told me to smoke. He even explains himself: “Smoke, my friend. Otherwise someone else will smoke in your place.”

yeah I felt the same. but I was expecting that because the way Narita Ryougo is writing isn't cut out for something short. read Dead Mount Death Play you'll understand what I mean

It's less of an anime but more of the director's portfolio/tech showcase/advertisement for his new studio "Team OneOne". This anime's message is "contact us if you want to make anime with this kind of artistry"

Ok? I don't know why this one has a lower score than the other one, I mean I get it, it has a lote more exposition and less action at every moment, but that makes for a better explored setting and better established plot, plus the plot here does feel like it ends and even the characters feel livelier and more complete. Plus no amnesia/weird illusions and the third act doesn't come out of nowhere with what feels like cut content in between, like the other one.

In case it wasn't obvious, I feel that this one was the better movie, though it's true that it could and probably would be better as a miniseries.

Oh and when the ending started it reminded me of the Genie song.

Interesting to see alternative universe Shizuo and Izaya in this-- from the same creator as Durarara of course. Knowing what shenanigans he pulls sometimes, I'm not too surprised. lol
Liked this one more than Kurayukaba. I think what connected the characters made this one a lot more interesting for me. Those relations help me care more about what's going on and what certain actions or happenings will mean for each character. Kurayukaba just didn't have as much of that. I was more interested in what the characters of Kuramerukagari were doing/wanted as well. Enjoyed myself for the most part.
Actually, I'll say that while these were twin films, I had only planned to watch this one because it just sounded more interesting to me, so I'm not too surprised that I prefer this one.

Oh well. What can I say? It's about a 7/10 movie. You can give it more if you like the subject matter. Somewhat reminiscent of early anime like "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind", "Castle in the Sky", "Porco Rosso". Not in terms of the drawings. It's a peculiar one, with its own zest. But the general style of a very stylised world. The showdowns are kind of scary, but nobody kills anybody, and there are even comedic elements.
I didn't get enough time for immersion. The narration is very fast and hurry. Although you can watch it in the evening. I don't really understand why it's rated PG-13. No swearing, no nudity, no blood. Alcohol and tobacco flashed in the frame gave the rating?
I also liked the linking of the parallel plots. And the Deus ex machina victory of the forces of good was a little disappointing.
All in all, good but not great.
