| I'm from the Far East. We also catch smelt here in winter. Not in the lake, but in the bay. Fishermen regularly get swept away on ice floes. People sink their cars when they go out on the ice. I have to say, they have a lot of equipment in the anime. Usually it's much simpler. It took me a fishing trip to realise it wasn't for me. It's cold, it's boring, the wind whips you around. A man 20 metres away has a bite and you don't. You change places. And... Again no bite and where you were sitting, fishermen start to pull. There's a shoal of fish on the bottom and often it's pure rng. In summer, from the boat, with sonar, much easier and more fun. You can also do a little bit of le trollge, catch cherry trout (masu salmon, well, or just masu). Winter fishing is a very dubious entertainment. Skis, kebab and just walks through the woods, in my opinion, will be more fun. Even in winter you can go to a holiday village far away, with a bathhouse and ice-free stream. In a quiet hollow. The silence of the forest in winter is beautiful. |
