What did you guys learn from this amazing show? For me it was self-acceptance and realizing that one should move on from their mistakes or they will end up living a life of regret. Also obvs no enemies is an beautiful concept as well.

I hope I hear some unique ideas you guys took from Thorfinn's journey or just the show in general!

I learnt that there is always hope even when all seems lost. I love how Thorfinn was able to move on from his past and go back to his family.
truly a beautiful anime.

Vinland Saga is truly an exceptional anime. I learnt that no matter the sins and crimes one has committed in the past, self loathing and hatred won't get you anywhere. It's best to seek self atonement in the best and most reasonable way possible. Then look to the future and keep moving forward no matter what.

Agree with u that stopping after season 1 is an L(Vinland Saga is in my top 5) but bro please don't hate on mha that much, I get u that everyone may not like it but I found it pretty good(except season 5), while nagatoro as favourite has no excuse

I liked bnha season 1,2,3. I’m just saying, he’s not gonna like a character driven story that’s devoid of romance and solely based on philosophy.

I mean literally the meme: I have no enemies
often you get caught up in you disliking someone or whatever and begin to treat them with rudeness or something because you feel like they are on the "Opposition", everybody has their own cross to bear and does what they think is best, to change them is to change your own approach

I think I learned a bit about how life looked at that time and also how farming in the 11. Century looked like. That’s why I like historical manga :)

In my opiniom, it might be hard to take any lessons from this show if someone isn't a teenager without much life experience. It ain't a bad thing, of course, and Vinland Saga has many wholesome and wise life advices to offer to its viewers, but come on, a lot of other stories have them as well (like shounens, seemingly demonized in this thread as if shounen anime or certain user's favorite shows had any relevance in this conversation, huh).

That being said, I enjoyed the tonal shift offered by the second season. I like more deeper and complex character development, intertwining different plot points. Some people say Season 2 was slow, but I disagree. To me, it felt way more dynamic than the first season. Less action scenes doesn't need to be equal to sluggish pacing.

Anyway, about learning something, then in my case it was realizing that Vinland Saga fandom had more immature folks than I expected. Saying "I have no enemies", while casually jumping like wild beasts on random people on the Internet just because they didn't like a cartoon or one of its scenes that much. 🤣 Or antagonizing different types of viewers by bringing up aforementioned random talk about shounen series being awful, "thrash taste", and so on. I don't think that's the message that Thorfinn wanted to convey during Season 2, lol.

You hit the nail right on it's head, well said. It's like this with every fandom unfotunately.

Basically to be strong and avoid physical conflict yet capable of violence when not given a choice.

We are on this world for far too short of a time to make a list of all our enemies. We can disagree with people, and move on instead of letting that hang over our heads and letting it control our lives, our choices. This has been a much harder thing to follow.

Forgiving is not easy. It feels like you're running away to safety because you're scared and maybe that's part of it, but to acknowledge that there is a difference between running because you're scared and running because there is no point to the conflict is an important thing. It requires having the ability to judge situations well from instincts not overthinking.

You can always try to be a different person no matter what your past is. Consider what he had gone thru, I believe Thorfin is going against the Society or the norm at that time. But you see as a minority you need to defend yourself or else you'll be crushed. I don't think his concept of running away is feasible in real life context because there's bad everywhere. Will have to see how this moulds.
Main takeaway for me is that don't get carried away by hatred.
